Everybody who knows Filomena's loves to watch the "Pasta Mamas, " whipping up tempting homemade pasta in the storefront window. Once inside, you'll be lost in a statue-strewn Italian garden, far away from a Georgetown basement. Filomena's bargain prices and lavish portions attract tour groups and office parties these days, and the noise level rules it out as an intimate date-night spot. But from the day it opened in the '80s, the place has attracted celebrities and politicians, who come to be seen as much as to eat great pasta. The Pasta Mama's tender stuffed pillows bring raves, whether agnellotti filled with ricotta and spinach or ravioli with smoked chicken in cream. Gnocchi della mama brings new "oohs" and "ahhs" to these hand-made potato dumplings, bathed in fragrant sauces. Linguine cardinale with silky lobster sauce is a stunner. less

I'm a sucker for fresh pasta I love making it at home and when i go out I expect it, and it's here, not the keep cold stuff in the dairy isle, but real hand made on the site pasta. Boil it and throw it on my plate and i'd be happy, but they take it a step further with handmade sauces. A delight to my mouth. less
