When ordering a meal the chef will not accomodate the customer no matter what they are willing to pay. He is aggrogent! The rolls were stone cold and no roll plate was provided. The salad taste like cardboard. The help was nice and apologetic--The chef needs to understand that the CUSTOMER needs to be satisfied. I am a mother of 5 and 3 are married and have I have 3 grandchildren--it is easy to go across the street and have a meal that is not only good but the CHEF will make sure we are happy. Dylans needs to remember that they are there for their customers--and should try to accomodate their needs. less

Fifty-five minutes for an undercooked steak? Customer service that includes bringing back the same steak, less than half its original size, on the same plate? A manager who refuses to remedy the situation? And an owner who actually TAKES THE FOOD OFF YOUR TABLE AND ASKS YOU TO LEAVE just as you are reaching a reasonable compromise with the manager? You can have all this and more at Dylan's Restaurant in Westerly. AND YOU CAN PAY FULL PRICE FOR YOUR UNEATEN DINNER, TOO!! This restaurant ranks at number one on my list of worst dining experiences ever. I have only sent two steaks back to the kitchen in my entire life. I was pleasant and cordial at first, even after our hour-long wait for our food, when my "medium-well" sirloin arrived, at least 30% fat, bleeding all over my plate. I asked the waitress to get a manager because the restaurant was fairly busy, and I did not want to tie up our relatively polite waitress with my concerns. I cut off all of the fat to show how much there was, and then cut my steak down the middle to show the manager how undercooked it was, and she offered no apologies. She simply told me they would recook it, grabbed my plate and walked away. When my steak returned half its original size, still undercooked, I simply asked for a reduced price on my dinner or a full sized steak cooked to my specifications. The manager said that because I had eaten one of my baked stuffed shrimp, she could only offer me a $5 discount. I was about to reluctantly agree to this but didn't even get the chance! I WAS ABSOLUTELY ASTOUNDED WHEN THE OWNER STORMED OVER AT THAT VERY MOMENT, ACTUALLY REMOVED MY PLATE FROM OUR TABLE (food still uneaten, with the exception of the one shrimp), AND ASKED ME TO LEAVE!! She said I had no right to complain. Then she actually returned with my plate, shoved it in my face, and asked me to show her where the fat was!! I had cut it off the first time around, so obviously it wasn't on my plate anymore! I was even more astounded when three employees, including the owner, surrounded our table and DEMANDED THAT WE PAY FULL PRICE FOR MEALS WE DIDN'T EVEN GET THE CHANCE TO EAT!!! I have never had a more unbelievably unpleasant dining experience. I have never seen such an utter absence of professionalism. To top it off, the manager personally asked us never to return as we were leaving. Those of you who enjoy dining out know that service goes a long way in making or breaking a meal out. Good service, even if the food is sub-par, generally leads to good word-of-mouth and a lifetime of recommendations. On the other hand, incomprehensible rudeness, no matter how exquisite the food, can lead to negative word-of-mouth and bad publicity. It is my hope that my experience at this family-owned restaurant will serve as a warning to anyone considering eating there! (Or as in our case, NOT eating there!) Favorite Dish: The salad bar is great, but I don't think it was worth the $52 bill we were practically forced to pay upon our hasty and unpleasant departure. Prices: US$21-30 Per Person less

An excellent quiet dining experience. The atmsphere is layed back. It is the perfect place to go after a hard week at work. they have a large menu, with fabulous appetizers and entrees. They have a bar in the restaurant that is not combined with the dining section. The service was very good. A great place to go and chat the night away, while sipping wine, and slowly eating your dinner. Excellent ambience. I will absolutely go again the next time I am in Westerly. less
