This review is for the newer location in Matteson - can I say excellent. Nice Decor, great food and we (my family and I) can't get enough. They took me to the old location in Dolton last fall and I must confess I was a little scared it looks dirty and like it needs to be cleaned/updated. However, the owner got it right in Matteson. My only question(s) would be why do minority owned establishments gouge there patrons? The prices are too high, especially for people with children I think that a consistent $11-15 would do and don't even think about carryout unless you're making 80K a year it is too d#$@$ expensive. Question no. 2, why are they building a location in Gary, In. when they have loyal patrons in Chicago? When are we going to see a location in Hyde Park or Bronzeville - cause Dixie Kitchen can't compare? Well thanks for the great food and I will continue to drive the hour, hour and a half once every two months for my indulgence. less

When you walk in the second thing you'll notice is the wall which is covered with old album covers. Vintage Natalie Cole, Smokey Robinson, Patti LaBelle and other soul singers give the place a down home vibe. The first thing you'll notice is the unmistakable aroma of barbeque and candied sweet potatoes. After you pay $11.95 or 8.95 depending on whether you're there for lunch or dinner, you will walk around a curve and see the most spectacular display of soul food. They've got macaroni and cheese, greens, ribs, tips, fried fish, fried chicken, real cornbread dressing, potatoe salad, real rolls and just about every soul food dish you can think of with the exception of chitterlings. Dusties is the type of place that gets nods of approval from elders. The food is always fresh and tasty.
