Down the Hatch is actually located in Ponce Inlet FL 32127 <br> There's a reason why folks are willing to drive South from the beachfront hotels and condos to the end of the Dayotna Beach peninsula to eat at Down the Hatch. The fresh fish and riverfront view are tings you aren't going to find in any chain seafood resteraunt. <br> There's an outside seating area, but every time I've been over the past dozen or so years, I've eaten inside, at a window facing the river if possible. The resteraunt can get crowded so an earlier dinner is a good time to go. There's typically a 20-30 wait for your entree to arrive, which leaves plenty of time for a drink or two, and some of the crackers and delicious fish dip they provide. <br> The seafood platters are all good, and can be had either fried or broiled. As you eat, look around. Besides the pictures of famous folks on the walls, you just might see someone famous in person. Either while waiting for your table, or on the way out, see if there's some interesting birds in a cage outside by the parking lot. At one time there was a HUGE parrot there. less

Do not let the outside look of this place fool you. I live in Roanoke Va. And every year since I was a little kid, my parents have taken me to Daytona for the summer. And we would go to Down The Hatch at least 3-4 times during our vacation. Now I go down there as an adult and still visit there for an incredible meal. Their Alaskan King Crab Legs are like no other I have had. And ever since I have been "of age", (I'm 31 now) I also enjoy the outside bar/dock and its even better when there is a band playing there. I have also enjoyed watch the jumping fish in the waters. And love to watch it when they have some kind of fishing contest and watch all the boats come in with their catches.
But the best thing is the crab/shrimp dip cracker spread. Its worth the drive from Va JUST for that. less
