The Treat is a true taste of home for me. I grew up near by and as a child, a soft serve cone from the Tropical Treat was a summertime ritual. As a teenager I worked as a carhop for a few summers and loved the family atmosphere of the restaurant. Whenver I make it home to PA in the summertime, it is required dining. I recently made my family drive directly from DC to the Treat on the day I arrived back from Europe so that I could make it for dinner before closing! My favorites are the Fat Boy burger (what a Big Mac could only ever dream of being), The Italian Steak (with lots of cheese and hot peppers), and the malts and shakes (chocolate-peanut butter malt for me please!) Everything on the menu is made to order so be patient at busy times. It's worth the wait! It is great food and a great value. Just please remember a little something for your carhop. less

This is a great place to spend some time, reflect on the "good old days", PLUS get some really great food! The prices are good, the service is good, and the food is excellent! It's not your "continental cuisine" or "haute cuisine", but it is really good food at a really good price! Good for the whole family and a fun time as well. I just wish there was a way for them to be stay open year round! If you are ever in this area, you HAVE to make at stop at the Tropical Treat! less

Excellent place. Don't have to get out of your car. They are only open a few months. But, that just makes you want to go more. My daughter likes there hamburgers better than McDonalds. Of course once you are you have to have ice cream. It is A one ... more
