If you're visiting the 1000 Island region the Clipper is a stop well worth your while. My wife and I own The Wine Sellar in Watertown and we're pretty picky about where we eat (when we have the time to go out). I'll happily drive the 20-25 minutes to dine at the Clipper. This restaurant is a North Country Icon for locals and summer residents alike. Although the restaurant does not provide a spectaculor waterfront dinning experience (like other restaurants in the 1000 Islands), it's a tradeoff you won't regret. This restaurant is seasonal and typically opens around Easter and goes well into Fall (maybe into early winter). I sincerely applaud the Clipper for offering fantastic (creative/delicious) cuisine and a wine selection (reasonably priced...and I know the prices) that actually complements the menu. I have dinned here for over 20 years and I find something new to like everytime I visit. NOTE: for the record NYS law prohibits restaurants from purchasing wines from a retaier so I'm not trying to schmooze :) less

It has a tone of a upscale restaurant, but you can dress comfortably. Great place for a special occasion like a birthday, holiday, or a date. I consider this a 5 star restaurant for the area.
