Break out the red wine and prepare to enjoy some of the most authentic Italian food in Charlotte. You'll be greeted at the door by the owner -- if you make reservations for dinner. If not, you can wait and try your luck, but you'll be waiting a while at the bar (which isn't such a bad option). From the antipasto to the numerous pasta, pizza and veal selections, this Italian is as real as it gets. The chefs are not afraid to use tomatoes on nearly everything, making for deliciously tart sauces. The restaurant is tucked away in University City, and its small size makes for a great intimate evening out. Live music is offered on some weekends, so call for details. less

They use real toppings (not like Pizza hut & Papa John's). Fresh tomatoes, sausage, etc.. and lots of cheese. On Friday's and Saturday's the owner plays his accordian throughout the restaurant. A nice touch. I have never had dessert, I've always been too full. less
