Touristy-type (but not too touristy) restaurant with a great view of the Potomac River and located near the trendy Torpedo Factory in Old Town Alexandria. Nice salad bar, good set of entrees. Reserve a table by the window on a nice day for a nice view of the boats on the river. This restaurant chain tends to locate itself along water or with a view of water. Reservations are a must. less

I've been to several of the Chart House restaurants, but I do prefer the one in Old Town Alexandria given that it looks over onto the Potomac. Despite the focus on seafood, the meat selection are varied and done to order. The salad bar includes a vast array of items to include caviar. I'm not to keen on the tropical motif and the loud Hawaiian shirts sported by the wait staff, but it's easy enough to block out when the fodd and service are up to expectations. Naturally, the place can get packed despite the fact that reservations are quite necessary. If they had one of those "you must be this tall to enter" signs like at the amusement parks, it would be a much nicer and quieter place. less
