The food here was very delicious. Our steaks were cooked perfectly. So far i have tried the T-Bones, Filets, and Ribeyes at Charlies and all have been excellent. My wife did try the chicken once and it turned out to be a little tough, but its her own fault for ordering chicken at a Steakhouse. The staff is very friendly and always takes care of us. This places is definately worth going to. less

Charlies Steak house is the most delicious place to get a steak in all of Greenville. My husband and i tried alot of the new restaurants in the newly renovated area of downtown Greenville, and we decided to return to our favorite place = Charlies. The food is always and consistent and perfect. We have come to know the servers by name, and they know us as well. The servers are always polite, proffesional, and willing to please. The food is alsways served to us fresh (we can tell). The salad consists of romaine lettuce, and a blend of vegetables. The dressing are all made by the staff, and taste delicious. The steaks are always very tasty, and not covered with pepper or garlic. All i add to my steak is salt, and my children like the "Charlies" sauce they bring to the table. We have never left Charlies hungry, and will continue to be patrons for a long time. Thanks Charlies and staff. Martha less

The only thing we had eaten in common was the salad dressing. When I called to let them know (hopefully to keep others from getting sick), they acted as if they couldn't care less and offered no apologies or thanks for our calling. less

The salads are only average and baked potatoes seem a little over-cooked.
The wait staff is adequate. They do try.
Prices are reasonable for -get this... >> MENU SERVICE << as opposed to standing in line with your tray at "a family steak house." (Guess some people prefer being around kitchen clatter and screaming brats, if only to save a dollar.)
Charlie's food is much better and it is a much nicer experience. less

Step back in time. Steeped in tradition, Charlie's is an authentic 1950's family-owned restaurant. Their steaks are excellent, served in very tasty au jus sauce. No stuffy formality here. Missing are neon art, oil paintings and collections ... more

Step back in time. Steeped in tradition, Charlie's is an authentic 1950's family-owned restaurant. Their steaks are excellent, served in very tasty au jus sauce.
No stuffy formality here. Missing are neon art, oil paintings and collections of antiques. Forget exotic rice pilafs or baby steamed veggies. Charlie's serves good, honest perfectly aged meat with potatoes. Expect a dated, slightly worn ambiance (which I find extremely charming!)
Perhaps not the place to take someone on a first date, but many anniversaries are celebrated here by the 'silver haired crowd.'(Young couples frequent Charlies as well.) I have never met the owner and am just getting 'silver haired' myself, but I always come away from Charlie's feeling I have just eaten the best steak of my life at an amazingly low price.
