I live in Clearwater and i ate at Castaways last Thursday. The food was great. i especially loved the rice and the tiramissu. We had a wonderful young lady as our server. Her name was Brooke. Let me say that my husband left a 30% tip, which for him is a miracle tip!!!! But that is how great the service was and how great the food was. We will be back less

I was visiting friends in the tampa bay area for christmas , as a new jersey resident It was quite appalling to see how your customers were treated. We had a 3:30 apppointment for Christmas dinner. We arrived at 3:15 pm it was jammed packed in the lobby. The receptionist was very rude!! the first words out of her mouth was we running an hour behind schedule. We explained we had a reservation her words, were everyone here has a reservation. We waited one and a half hour until the baby became very irritable as there was no seats for waiting. I have never visted the castaways before, but I know I would not recommend it to any one. I have attended many brunches, in my lifetime but never anything last I saw demonstrated there. less

Usually, this is my FAV resturaunt. whenever there is a suggestion i always push for teir brunch ver anyother. we discovered Castaways by accident a few years ago while "running away" from a horrid little brunch in the city. Every since the run in my co workers and I meet there. I had not gone in while and i had my family with me and we had just had pictures taken on the campus of UT and it was a lovely day so i wanted to continue the mood with a perfect brunch. NOT SO. 03/12 we arrived at the resturaunt and the great parking attendants advised that it would be a wait and they would check the ETA. Ok he came back with at least 45 minutes. (he didnt have to do this) i discussed it with the family and my husband really wanted to try it so we agreed. I placed my name on the waiting list and since i had 3 children under the age of 3, 1 newborn i wanted a table on the patio so they could "use their outside voices" and not disrupt others as I know thiscan sometimes be annoying to people who dont have kids in attendance. i was informed that there would be an additional wait time of 15 minutes. ok. no problem. i noticed people getting agitated over the wait but we all were walk ins and they had reservations to fullfill so that is the price you pay . after a while i approached the desk and stated that i had been waiting and hour i was informed it had only been 50 minutes, my mistake. we arrived at 11:25 am. When i was called a few minutes later i was escorted deep into the rear of the resturaunt. In any other circumstances, sans the kids, I would have accepted the seating but since i had waited the extended time for the purpose iof the balcony that i swhat i wanted. the hostess then advised that the manager sat us there and she had no contyrol. i ithen dragged the whole circus back to the front requesting my initial tanle seating. she apologised, not sincerely a little offhandely and let me know it will be a further wait. which we did. a patron next to my husband asked how long we were waiting with the kids he told her and she was shocked since staff was making it seem that we had only been ther 15 minutes. at this time it was 1:15. Finally we were seated outside. THE ONLY TABLE WITHOUT AN UMBRELLAS WITH 3 SMALL CHILDREN. In fact several patrons assked if the kids could sit at their table out of the sunb. It being 1:30 in the afternoon animal cruelty will fine you for staking a dog out directly in the sun with no shade at the time of day. Meanwhile my server and others were trying to make us as comfortable as possible MANAGEMENT walked through on several occasions checking on the adjacent wedding party. wi wont go into the exchange that was bantered between staff and I since it is of no consequence now to me but as a customer i dont feel that their should be anything said that would promote a hostile setting. well Castaways is no longer on my fav list. Our girl day will be held down the street at Bahma Breeze since I my tale of a day at the beach was the topic on 03/13. I am relocating to New Jersey and only wanted to visit a few fav spots that had encountered since relocating to Tampa 5 years ago. Oh Well. Letisha Austin less

Everything was cooked to perfection. As a major bonus to my mothers birthday party.... April, our server was right there with refills and was a pleasure to talk to.
