The beauty of "smaller" towns, is that you can actually find old-fashoned family restaurants, not a businesses in the business of being a throwback to a family restaurants. It is homey. I ordered the veal parmasean and pasta dinner entree. The taste was very American traditional. Its taste and presentation were like I remember back in the '60s. Flavors not too fresh, somewhat salty, filling, conservative. Perhaps I'll checkc out their breakfast. less

A great place for breakfast! A Davis standard, actually. Most of it's fame comes from the home fries, which are wonderful. Breakfast is a usual american affair, but for lunch and dinner, the place takes on what it's name promises. Italian! ... more

Recommended! less

This place is really convenient to the I-80 traveler. Just off the freeway at the Davis turnoff. Friendly atmosphere, and ok food. A big menu.....should be able to find something that's to your liking...........and it seems like a good place ... more

I recently ate at Cafe Italia. I ordered the special for the evening, the gnocchi dish with a Caesar salad and garlic bread . The caesar salad was quite bland and had little caesar flavor. The gnocchi were under done and the potato dough of the gnocchi stuck to the roof of my mouth which was quite and unpleasant sensation. The garlic bread had a sickening barbeque flavor and was drenched with butter. These attributes made me unable to eat the bread. The atmosphere was that of any cheesy Italian restaurant. It was dark and noisy. Our waitress was very prompt and she was by no means "hovering". over our table. Overall the experience was okay, but I would not go back there a second time. less
