the local are very lucky to have this gem of a french bistro I just wish tampa had such a gem but i enjoy eating there every time I vist the big easy and for a french restraunt and the only reason i give it a 4 star is the outdoor only place but the owners do the best to put plasic up to keep the temp not to bad but the food is worth it even off season and during season I give it a solid 5 star rating if if you think it to expensive try other frech places in the usa I doublt you find and cheaper prices less

Just an adorable, friendly, charming French bistro -- a delightful neighborhood restaurant, and one that doesn't emphasize fried food (trust us, that's a combo that's hard to find in this town!). If you want to have a nice meal without the fuss and feathers, Degas should do the trick in terms of both food and atmosphere. There are daily dinner and lunch specials -- think quiches and real, live salads (always a happy find in this town) and straightforward but flavorful fish and meat dishes, presented in generous portions. You can go light (a salad, a plate of pâtés and cheeses) or heavy (filet of beef tenderloin with a green peppercorn brandy sauce) -- either way, you'll feel as if you ate something worthwhile. Though it's French, this is not France, and this bistro is informal enough that you can go wearing blue jeans. less

The coolest date place in town. Its like going to Paris but still having American plumbing. The food is as wonderful and as charming as the staff. OPen air dining mandates that the best times to go are in early fall or spring. In either case you can take advantage of the paddle boats in near by City Park the stroll over to Cafe Degas and dine. If you're almost senile or very imaginative, it will remind you of the lakes at Versailles and a romantic cafe nearby. Go with someone you love. They will love you back! less

This restaurant is an old favorite, because of its open air dining and easy atmosphere. The service is friendly, although often slow. The food often nudges 4 stars, but has periodic inconsistencies. The overall average comes to a upper 3. Our most recent visit was one of those inconsistent ones. The service was fast and good. My wife's filet was very good, but my (not very French) T-Bone in an excellent sauce was substantially fat and bone. It was with-drawn at the slightest comment and replaced with the excellent filet, although I preferred the first sauce. The escargot were small in a delicious sauce. less
