I was at the Biscayne Miami location on July 4th w/ about 20+ girls from Chicago for my sister's bridal shower. Despite the horrible reviews we read we decided to go anyway for dinner. My sister and I had the chicken churrasco and both got food poisoning!! We were sick to death all night and all day through our flight back home!! Horrible last night! needless to say everyone at our table HATED the food!! I have NEVER had such horrible food in my life. My sister and I only ate about a quarter of our food since the way the chicken was cooked alone was pretty disgusting. (chicken hash how i'd describe it). I can imagine we would've had to admit ourselves to the hospital had we eaten the entire meal. Chicken churrasco for one should never be "shredded" and please do exercise more caution when handling poultry. Your restaurant is beautiful. Serve some food that does it justice! I would never ever had anticipated it to be THIS bad. So that's 25 people coming back to Chicago telling everyone they know how horrible the food was. Not very good! Hopefully we were the only ones to get sick that night. Terrible job folks. less

Expect a long wait (unless you're lucky enough to have an "in") and elbow-to-elbow mingling. Is it worth the wait? I had appetizers & drinks in the bar at the South Beach Location of Bongo's on 6/5/04. I waited about 5 minutes for a menu, 15 minutes for delivery of my drink, another 15 minutes before the server would take my order, and a whole lot of attitude from the server who sat (!) at the host stand most of the time she should have been serving her tables. So frustrated, I had to get up and find her to ask for my check, then handed her my card to run it through ASAP. She did so - but failed to provide me with an itemized receipt - only the credit card signature forms. I got up again and asker her for the itemized receipt. When she finally did deliver it (several minutes later) I noticed then that her tip was already included. I will NEVER again return to Bongos. The service was the worst I have EVER received. The worst part: the manager saw all of this occur and made no effort to intervene. Apparently bad service and server attitude is part of the Bongo's experience. less
