Out first trip to this famous Amarillo landmark was a truly wonderful overall experience. The food and friendly service were exemplary, with the 18 oz. ribeye being one of the best steaks I have ever had. My wife had the 6 oz tenderloin and she was more than pleased. The only difficulty we encountered, and it MUST be a common one, was having room for one of their good desserts :-) The ambiance of the room is something to be experienced and the roaming Cowboy Trio was an unexpected delight. We left knowing we will eagerly return the next time we come through Amarillo. less

The service was friendly, the atmosphere was fun and the food was great. I have two toddlers who enjoyed the food and the atmosphere and it wasn't a nightmare bringing them in there! Its not some fancy French place that gives you about two mouthfulls of food. Portions are definatelly "Texas" sized. Sometimes there is a lady that swings overhead and sings. Live entertainment of Cowboy music too. Granted there is better tasting steaks in Amarillo, but no place has this kind of atmosphere. <br> Also recommend reading what the people have written about eating the 72 oz steak....its hilarious less

As a native of Amarillo, I have eaten at the Big Texas many times. The wait staff is about the best I've ever seen. The food is high in quantity...usually more than I can eat. But the Big Texan is more than a restaurant, It is a legend. It is a highly popular tourist attraction. On any given night, you can diners there from many states and even a few other countries. Any TV crew travelling across the country on I-40 will stop and do a story on the Big Texan Barbeque and Steak House. And I like the music shows they do at the Big Texan.And anyone who has passed through town, even if they didn't stop to eat, knows where it is. Eating there may be a way for tourtists to count coup on their less travelled neighbors. But I am a native of Amarillo. Been there, done that. I don't go to the Big Texan in all I want is a steak dinner. less
