As a former airline pilot -- I overnighted at Akron-Canton airport (CAK) occasionally. Belgrade gardens (albeit not the original in Barberton) was fantastic! It is simply the best fried chicken anywhere. Many cities have food they're noted for: Memphis ribs, Chicago pizza, NW microbrews, west coast sea food, etc... but hands down, whatever the price (and it's dirt-cheap considering other places) if you like chicken, this is the best ever! less

I actually took a lady friend there after a few friends told me (in front of her) that I had to take her to Barberton for a Chicken dinner. So... arrived at 7:48 PM... mostly empty... seathed right away. Noisy crowd... no server by 8:05. Went to talk ... more

So... arrived at 7:48 PM... mostly empty... seathed right away. Noisy crowd... no server by 8:05. Went to talk with the hostess and asked if anyone was assigned to our table. The hostess followed us back to our seats and went to chat with a 300+ lb. waitress... who was annoyed... and ignored us until 8:15 when we left. less

THE CHICKEN COATING IS OUT OF THIS WORLD ( NEVER FOUND ANYTHING TO EVEN COMPARE ANYWHERE )AND YOU OFFER OTHER FOODS THAT PLEASED THE FAMILY. I KNOW THE PORK CHOPS WERE ALSO VERY GOOD .....THE FRENCH FRIES AND THE SAUCE WAS SO GOOD. MY MOUTH IS WATERING RIGHT NOW. WE LAUGH NOW BECAUSE WHAT WE PAY NOW FOR ONE MEAL FEED OUR ENTIRE FAMILY OF 7 MANY YEARS AGO. DON'T EVER MOVE , I LOVE THE PLACE. WHEN MY HUSBAND ASKS WHERE I WOULD LIKE TO GO EAT FOR THE EVENING I ALWAYS ANSWER BARBERTON BELGRADE GARDEN....WE ARE NEAR TAMPA BUT I CAN ALWAYS WISH TO FIND A BOX OF IT AT MY DOOR.!!!!!!! less

I have been coming here for as long as I am old, my mother has come here for as long as she is old, and my grandparents were eating here before they got married! I liked the chicken so much I got a job there part time! The chicken is fresh, from local farmers. The workers themselves do the breading, that's what gives it that great taste! It's never been frozen or handled in a plant. They do it this way to keep that wonderful homemade taste that has kept Belgrades in business for the last 70 years! They were the first, and I hope the last chicken house in Barberton. less
