The food was okay, but not spectacular. service was a little slow and not very attentive. It is really an old fashioned road-side diner (a little too far from the road side, but well hyped by the traditional road side signs). With 2 stars meaning poor, I wouldn't go that far, but it really isn't close to a 4-star restaurant. Menu was limited. less

Apple Annie's, just off the Prosperity Avenue offramp from Hwy 99, is a diner-type restaurant that brings back memories of family vacation roadtrips. It is, in fact, an excellent place to stop if you have hungry, whiney kids in tow because there is much for them to be distracted by inside. There is a little model train (O gauge, I think) that runs around the main dining room, and there is also a little courtyand outside that has a really seriously weird fountain that is assembled out of scrapyard bits of metal all welded together and rusting for your entertainment. The food is very good and affordable enough. Burgers and sandwiches and steaks and salad type of place, the Club Sandwich would be sufficient for two people easily. Burgers are huge and juicy and come with a double-handful of steak fries. Apple Annie's is the kind of place where you would expect your waitress to call you "Hon" and treat you to a little dish of jello cubes after your meal. Great place to get out of the car, stretch your legs, relax a bit, before you head on down to LA. less

If you compare this resteraunt to its main competitions in the family dining category this place has much better food choices! Because the menu is filled with great tasting large plated breakfast, lunches and dinners. Save room for desert! If you are passing through Tulare on I-5 this is at the same exit as the Horizon Outlet Malls. Perfect for a roadside stop. A good meal and shopping sure beats the alternative of a highway rest stop. The service is sometimes slow but you are sitting in a nice booth, being entertained by the ceiling high train track. Also their is a neat water fall contraption outside on the patio. And for good tasting fresh food a little wait is worth it. less
