I went to agua verde during my college years, and fell in love with it. the prices were great and the atmosphere was very sociable for friends. the fish tacos were always amazing and their salsa bar was always had a fun selection of spicy choices. the view of the lake is real relaxing and definitely adds to the place. i was fortunate enough to go back just recently and tho it has changed for the better the food and the options and service has always stood out. this isnt a fancy joint so i never had to worry bout formalities, but it definitely wasnt a truck stop shop either. it was perfect for my college years trying to pull money outta my couch and car to go out to dinner as if i already graduated from college. less

Agua Verde has changed a bit since it's inception and mostly for the better..it has become a real sit down restaurant serving the same, reasonably priced food with some well executed traditional Mexican dishes and some baja style cuisine. My favorites are the the Torta El Rey (carne asada), the posole, and the fish tacos. Lots of yummy side dishes and a pretty diverse menu means there's something for your vegan aunt from Eugene plus meat and booze for Grandpa. This combined with well organized service+location right on the water make this a place not to miss. less

There are unfortunately, very few places to get authentic Mexican or Mission-style food. This is also a taqueria, but with a full seating area and occasional gypsy/flamenco live music. Though the food may not be "typically athentic" (a relative term), it is Baja style fusion cuisine!
As I don't do animals, we'll skip to the flavorful side dishes $1.95: Green Rice with Chard, Pito beans, Corn and Nopalitos, Cranberry Slaw, etc. The Tacos de Hongo (portabella mushroom, tomato, sauteed with guajillo chiles, cotija cheese, $4.50), and the Tacos de Boniato (sweet potato sauteed wiht mild chiles and onions, cotija cheese, avocado sauce, $4.25). If you're hungry, order a side to go with your tacos. The most disappointing item was the bowl of chips that came with the salsa. They are not home made, but instead taste like the poor quality chips bought in a bag from Safeway, fried in hydrogenated oils. Reminded me of Fritos brand. Anyhow, don't let that stop you. My animal eating friends seemed to have enjoyed the Mangodillas (quesadilla with mango poblano chiles and green onions, $3.75) Also, don't pass on the Horchata (rice and almond drink made without the cow milk and instead with Rice milk. Excellent vegan option!)
Agua Verde is right on the water next to the Paddle Club. The wait can be very long, especially on weekends. They serve alcohol. less
