Had tickets for the theater in San Jose and chose this restaurant for a pre-show dinner. The atmosphere was very good; reservations were honored. All of the four in my party was very pleased with the quality of food and the service. I had the duck which I would recommend. The seafood linguini was impressive. The portions were large and the cost was moderately high. The bill, with four glasses of wine, was $184 with gratuity. I will return to Sainte Peters again. Lee Valle less

I would not go back to this restraunt! I recently moved to the south bay from the peninsula. I have a friend who is staying at our house from New Orleans as his house was completly destroyed be the recent hurricane. We decided to have a night out tonight and I have heard wonderful things about 71 Saint Peters on San Pedro and decided to go. We did not have reservations and arrived around 8:30pm. We were told "There was no more seating for US for the night". I have traveled a lot in my life and I have NEVER been told I could not be seated. There were two men who asked if they could seat us. One tried to seat us (as there were many empty tables) The other took him aside and came back to us and said we would not be seated. After we left to find another restraunt I decided to call to see if we could get a table. I was told over the phone we could get a table around 9:30pm. We would have gladly come back to the restraunt in an hour as it was Saturday night amd we expected to wait anyway. I don't know why I would have been told something different over the phone than to my face. I think this restraunt has some prejudice employees and I would not recomend less

We took my mom here for dinner last week, and I really like the atmosphere they've created. The restaurant decor is cozy, and it's a treat to watch the chefs cooking in the open kitchen. The staff is friendly and capable. The food was good, too ... more

We took my mom here for dinner last week, and I really like the atmosphere they've created. The restaurant decor is cozy, and it's a treat to watch the chefs cooking in the open kitchen. The staff is friendly and capable. The food was good, too. I had the mushroom risotto, which had a wonderful creamy texture and great mushroom flavor. Others at my table had the duck (highly recommended), NY Steak (large portion!), seafood linguini (lots of seafood variety), and mushroom ravioli. The ravioli was the only disappointment. Although it looked interesting (the ravioli was striped with black squid ink), the plate was entirely filled with oil and my mom felt it was just too much oil for her taste. Also, appetizer portions seemed rather small. But overall, this was a good place to go for dinner, and I'd go back again. less

Innovative and superbly prepared food, beautiful presentation,and excellent service add up to a really great restaurant. There's also an extra treat when the bill comes, because it's about 30% less than any comparable restaurant I know in the area.The ambiance is informal, so the sophistication of the cooking comes as a bit of a surprise. We entertained a newly hired VP from an east coast branch (but who went to UC Berkely, so he is familiar with the Bay Area) and I have to say the place impressed the hell out of him.I would probably not recommend this place for an intimate, romantic dinner - it is too open and informal for that. That said, I would recommend it highly for any other business or social lunch or dinner, and plan to make good use of it in the future. less

Avoid the pasta, not because its bad, but becuase everything else is so much better. less
