The Acapulco is the Best Mexican restaurant that I have found,
if you like more traditional Mexican food. It is not trendy like
Cheve?s. Their chips are crisp and fresh. They offer two salsa?s:
a traditional Mild and a very spicy Hot (not for the week of tongue
and you must ask for it). My favorites are their Chile Relleno?s
and Taco?s. Both are large, fully loaded, and hot (most plates
are delivered bubbling at your table). The Chile Relleno is largest
I?ve ever seen, full of cheese, have no stem, do have a thick and
delicious breading, are covered with a fine red sauce, and take
up ½ the plate. The spiciness of the dishes are mild, but the heat
can be increased with their Hot Sauce. This restaurant has been
in Alameda since 1959 and the interior is strangely laid out due
to the many years of remodeling. They only serve beer and wine,
so this is not the place for margaritas, but a place to eat. They
have a strong following and a ½ hour wait on the weekends is not
out of the ordinary. If you like ?Gringo Mexican food? do not dine
here. If you liked the food on your last trip to Mexico, then be
sure to stop in and enjoy a memory.
