This place is a LONG way from real Chinese food and almost as far
away from good. It is quite fast. You get a lot for your money, but
it is not very good quality (flavor and cooking skill). Most of
what you get as spent too much time idling in the buffet steamers
and has lost an semblance of freshness. The sauces are weak in
flavor and the veggies teend to have crossed into the overcooked
zone.

This still the best Pizza in town, especially the seafood pizza.
It is a very busy place at dinner time, because everyone knows
it is a good meal at a good price.

Lansing is home to a lot of Asian people, mostly in thanks to the
Asian Studies program at Michigan State University. Therefore,
Lansing has a lot of Asian restaurants -- some really good and
some not. Little Panda is one of the good ones. My wife (native
Chinese) and I like to eat here. Their lunch specials are an excellent
deal for the price and the service is quite friendly and prompt.
The style is a broad mix of Americanized Chinese -- this style
name covers about 98% of all Chinese restaurants in the U.S. and
Canada. Their General Tso Chicken, a favorite of the luncheon
crowd, is first class as are their fried dumplings (jiaozi) and
several other dishes.
The best deal is their weekend dim sum. It is the only dim sum available
in the Lansing area. It is a bit small by dim sum standards, not
nearly on the scale of places like Wah Court in Windsor. However, it
is quite good and fairly priced.
The dim sum dishes are much closer to traditional Chinese fare
like my wife and I enjoy when we are in China. For a genuine ethnic
treat, be brave and try the deep-fried chicken feet and some green
onion pancakes. The feet are delightfully spicy and delicious.
Just be careful of the bones.

This is the restaurant that led the way into the emergence of Chinese/Asian
dining as a very popular dining style in Lansing. Most people
think of this restaurant as Chinese, but it is really Korean/Chinese,
as the Li family is of Chinese origin, but native of Korea.
The owner of the restaurant is a licensed Master Chef from Korea.
Master Li is widely known in other areas famous for Chinese communities,
like Chicago, as a first-rate chef who has competed and won in
highly competitive cooking contest.
Over the years, the Huapei has built a devoted clientele who come
regularly for the homey atmosphere and great food -- usually
ordered from the special menu instead of the one they hand you
as an ordinary patron.
The Hot & Sour Soup (Suan lao tang) is the best I have tasted anywhere.
Their fried and steamed dumplings are equal to anyones. They
have several dishes unique to the restaurant as creations of
Master Li. I recommend the Huapei Chicken, Korean Beef, Kam Pung
Gi (spicy chopped chicken with or without bones, which are the
traditional manner of fixing) and their very unique version
of Sweet and Sour.

They have several dishes on their menu that you probably won't
see other places. I highly recommend the beef noodle dish #307)with
a sweet and spicy sauce.
