Many people still think that Bonnies dining and banquets is closed to the public, but those people are wrong! Spending an evening at Bonnies for the Wednesday, Chicken Fry Buffet or maybe just to stop in for a little Petersen's Ice Cream and/or Lezza's Italian Ice is very much worth it. For those of you who don't know, the Wednesday, Chicken Fry is phenomenal. Best chicken in the state! Besides the chicken, Bonnie actually has a variety of homemade salads which are also very addicting. My personal favorite is the marinated carrots, but there is a choice between that and also a few more; marinated Cole slaw, three beans, sweet sour beats, cheesy mac and occasionally the cottage cheese. After your dinner, if you're not too stuffed, a nice dessert is one of their newly added items, a scoop of vanilla ice cream with a scoop of pomegranate Italian ice. best combination! &on the other end, there is the famous Illinois Billiard Club, which is also open to the public Wednesdays after your dinner for a very fair price of $6.00 per person hourly. Not only is the chicken fry buffet delicious.. but the ice cream is amazing!! This place really does it all. One time, while at Bonnies i was asked by another costumer, "What would you request the president to get from here?" Right away i told him that i'd DEMAND him to get a hot fudge sundae... not just vanilla ice cream though. The mint chip is my favorite and it is complimented by the hot fudge and toasted pecans, along with whip cream and a cherry on top! All the ice cream is made to catch your eye and THEN your appetite. Another one of my favorite items is the pomegranate italian ice, this goes perfectly with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. YUMMM! All the ice cream products are Petersen's and the italian ice is from Lezza. Dont just take my word on it though, stop in for a visit and try it yourself...you wont be let down!
