What I used to think of as one of the most reliably good restaurants in Fell's Point was very disappointing. One in my party ordered asked how the mussels were. When they arrived, they were so small that most good restaurants would have refused the shipment! Steamed too long, they were rubbery and/or mushy. After the initial round of drinks, the waiter seemed to forget about bar service - he would have had a bigger check and thus a bigger tip if he had come back to check on a second round. One good note - the youngest among us thoroughly enjoyed the chocolate cake he had for dessert. less

This is just a so-so restaurant. Seafood for the masses. Lots of thick, gloppy sauces on their "imperials". Fish not as fresh as it could be. There are much better places to spend your money in the area.

On the first visit, we were treated to a talk on MD foods, and especially seafood, by chef Nancy Longo. Various "tasting dishes" were very good. The second time, I had the cioppino: seafood swimming in the most delicious tomato-based broth I have ever tasted. My companion pronounced the smoked crabcakes the best crab he had ever eaten. They were served with Brussels sprouts (which I learned on an earlier visit were a native MD veggie) in a delicious creamy sauce. <br> The only thing that keeps me from giving this place 5 stars is that the waiter (who was also the bartender) was not familiar with the liquors at the bar, and was a bit clumsy when clearing the table. Presentation of the dishes could have been a little better, but don't let the casual atmosphere and size of the room fool you - this place puts out some very tasty meals. less

The owner was very accommodating, and the waitstaff knowledgeable and friendly. A seafood appetizer with lump crab, scallops and puff pastry strips in a gream sauce was rich and delicious. The pecan crusted chicken breast stuffed with apricots was also good, as was a swordfish special that night. The vegetables were perfectly cooked, and the desserts looked good even though we didn't have room to try them. The fact that Deanna Bogart, one of my favorite local musicians, just happened to be playing there that night didn't hurt, either. less

I had a smoked mushroom and pasta appetizer that was quite possibly the best thing I've ever eaten! The pecan crusted fish dish was excellent, as well. We had specific wines poured for each course, and a variety of desserts that were out of this world. Wait staff was attentive and knowledgeable. An incredible experience! less

We were treated very well, however, the food was not as good as I had hoped. We started with several appetizer sampler plates with several kinds of seafood salads that were pretty good - but I am sure I could duplicate them at home. The Shrimp au Vin with pasta was good, but nothing to write home about. Where are all the New Orleans spices? The best part of the meal was our friendly waiter who served us a special flaming coffee concoction from a big tureen as we ate dessert. less
