We have eaten many times at Hiway Grill, and always received good service
and good food. Tonight was so far in the opposite direction!
The grill employs young women (late teens) in the restaurant section.
We have noticed before that these young women frequently cosy up to
customers. Tonight, one in particular was stretching her leg over
a chair, encouraging some men to take pictures of her ankle (a new tatoo?).
She also sat for some time with a group of men at another table. We rarely
saw this woman take or deliver orders.
The other young women were hardly more visible.
We took our seats at 6:45pm. We waited until 7pm for our order to be taken.
We received our drinks-- and that was all we got. Other patons came in,
took their seats, gave orders, received salads, got their meals, and
were eating by the time that we gave up at 7:40. My husband went into the
bar to pay for our two drinks. The tender took his debit card, then left
it unattended on the counter so she could wait on other patrons-- taking
their orders, making and delivering their drinks.
Granted, the place was busy. But it was not packed, and there was plenty
of wait staff. They just weren't working-- or thinking!
I have recommended this spot before. I will not again, as I see its service
is not reliably consistent.
