Seating is plentiful but the restaurant is very popular. So you may
have to wait a while. I have lucked out on some nights and got seated immediately.
The portions are HUGE. So if you are eating with someone - sharing an
entree is not uncommon. Its nice to get your own appetizer, and then
share an entree so you can get a desert (an awesome cheesecake)
Service is great. Food is good. If you can get past the yuppie pricks
and just ignore them. Everyone in the restaurant seems to have their
noses turned up to the air permanently.
But yes, the food is good, the service is good, the bar is capable, and
the deserts are tasty.

If you like chili's but hate bad service do not go to this one.
I usually tip between 20-25% but on this visit, I was forced to downgrade
this amount to 6% due to absolutely horrible service. Take my word for
it.

Tonight there was a bus that just happen to show up before us, so we had
to wait 30 minutes for a table. Bus or no bus, on average, I usually have
to wait a long time to get a table here. So many freaking old people and
people traveling its ridiculous.
Secondly, you may get a waitress with an attitude sometimes. There
are a few good and friendly waitresses here. One goes by the name of Nikki.
She has always been so very kind and friendly, and attentive. I always
am glad when she is our waitress. There is one waitress that is a bit heavy-set.
Well honestly, she is incredibly super huge. She usually has a very
bad attitude, and is always short of breath from carrying the food and
she is sweaty and the thought of a super-sized sweaty lady serving food
-and the remote chance of a drop of sweat -her DNA- dripping on to something
I am going to consume -just doesn't sit well with me.
Next complaint: The temperature could be between 45 and 55 degrees
F outside and the management somehow thinks its a good idea to fire up
the fireplace. Whats more, they seem to think its a good idea to seat
people adjacent to the fireplace, and at the same time run the heating
in the restaurant.
This being in the great state of Kentucky, they still do not have laws
banning smoking in restaurants. They have a smoking section that -even
when seated in the "non-smoking" section (which you often
wait longer for) you get a whole lot of Kentuckians smoking their asses
off and the smoke wafting into the "non-smoking" section.
Tonight's experience prompted me to write this review. After
placing the order, the food took in excess of 30 minutes to come out.
I ordered french toast, my daughter ordered a pancake and a biscuit
and my wife ordered gravy-biscuits and sausage (very simple orders)
they took forever to bring the food out. There were several tables,
whom got seated after us they all had their food. I about had enough and
got up and sought out the manager. I asked him why it was taking so long.
As soon as he said "I'll look into it" our food was served
mysteriously. The guys name was Will. He was a huge heavy set guy. He
checked on us a few times I was so pissed off cause my daughter was hungry
and kept telling me so. The waitress was no where to be seen at all from
about the 15 minute mark (after ordering) to when she brought the food
(about 35 minutes after ordering)
VERY VERY poor performance. When asked why both the manager and the
waitress said it was the way the tickets were placed or some other such
nonsense. Poor excuses and poor performance. She only offered to take
our drinks off the bill. (whoopee!) One adult drink and one kid drink
off of the bill (roll eyes) (I had water)
Cheap excuses and cheap compensation.

This place used to be the Madras, and apparently the same owners changed
the restaurant into a different genre. Its now an Italian / American
restaurant with a full bar. The atmosphere is nice. I stepped in to check
the place out. The staff were friendly. I ordered one of the daily lunch
specials for $5.99 + tax as take out.
When I lived in Boston I remembered a restaurant called Fire + Ice and
this place is not the same, it is not the same genre at all, but I am sure
the food is very good. I had the Soup and Sandwich, (Clam Chowder + BLT)
and for the price, it was great. In this area there already is a lot to
choose from, this gives us office geeks more to choose from.
Their lunch items vary from $6.95 - $8 and it looks like their dinner
entrees vary from $8 - $17.50.
Give this place a try.

There was a similar restaurant up in Boston called "Fire + Ice"
which I miss but this is a sensible alternative.
One of my favorite places to eat in HVille. Its in the new glenbrook shopping
center across from Target.

Cheddars is casual dining fare, but not the standard cardboard cutout
that has become typical of American casual dining lately. The wait
is incredibly long, almost to the point of -it not being worth waiting
for. Once inside, the atmosphere is really great. A huge fish tank greets
and the decor is reminiscent of a stony mountain resort. I have not really
had a problem with them the first few times eating there, however, (and
this is a big however) on one visit, the person serving the food (not
the same person as our server) gave our onion rings appetizer away to
another table, and by the time the staff realized their mistake and
served the onion rings appetizer, it came out at the same time as the
meal. This is only due to the incredibly STUPID practice of allowing
other people to serve the food, (i.e. not the actual server) who have
no idea who got what, so they end up making mistakes and they look bad.
So instead of an appetizer and then the meal, it all came out at once.
Incredibly annoying.
Thats my only beef with this place. That and the incredibly long wait.

I don't know what that guy (no name given) who wrote the review on
AUG 10 was smoking, seems to be disgruntled about something. Every
time I go to Las Palmas, they deliver. You can't beat the prices
and the food. Take out, or dine in.
