Pei Wei Asian Diner is a walk up counter version of parent company
P.F. Chang’s very successful chain of Asian restaurants. Pei
Wei offers a rather diverse menu with many options sure to please.

From the Pei Wei chicken salad to the Pad Thai, all the dishes I
have tried have been exceptional. The interior is very inviting
and upscale. The counter staff and servers are also quite accommodating,
even though it is counter service.
<br>
Patio seating is available with a craning view of the entire valley
off seaming the most expensive Fry’s grocery store lot in history.
<br>
Pei Wei is ideal for lunch, dinner or a late night fix for wonderful
Asian food.
<br>
My choice: Pei Wei Chicken Salad with Ice Tea. A fortune cookie
for dessert

A wonderful find in Glendale is Haus Murphy's. With the purchase
of the bar from "Murphy's Romance, " the restaurant
gained its name.

Murphy's offers some of the best German sausages available
in the Valley and serve it with German beer or wine ordered special
for their patrons. The dishes complement a great day of antique
shopping. The outdoor patio is not visible from the front enterance,
but is my favorite place to eat on a not-too-hot day.
<br>
My choice: The sausage sampler platter and a German Draft.
<br>
The also have exceptional desserts, displayed in the pie case
near the kitchen. And if you like a German wine offered, they will
sell them take-away for a better price.

Phoenix. This revolving restaurant moves at a whispers pace
and takes a full hour to complete the panoramic tour of Phoenix.
The Compass bills itself as International Cuisine with Southwestern
flair. The dishes are wonderful.
<br>
The Compass is ideal for business lunches, Sunday brunch or for
that romantic evening out. The setting creates a very intimate
feeling and the food is exceptional. Words of caution though,
pay close attention to where your table is in comparison to the
bar if you have to use the W.C.
<br>
My choice: Generally, the special of the day, but the Filet is
especially good. Be sure to save room for dessert.

The restaurant has relocated to downtown Fountain Hills, and
owners, Jim Wilson and Joyce Szelinger-Wilson are very gracious
hosts. The family atmosphere and laid-back lunch scene makes
it perfect for a business lunch or a great dinner.
<br>
The menu is extensive and contains American food along with the
Mexican and Seafood options. The margarita’s are good and seem
to get a little stronger later in the evening.
<br>
My personal pick: Chicken Burro combo, chips and salsa, margarita
and a chocolate mini chimi for dessert.
<br>
This resaurant is a local favorite and definitely the best Mexican
food (sit down) in Fountain Hills.

Located in the ever-developing downtown Fountain Hills area,
Chilmark offers a lunch spot appropriate for a customer lunch,
but make sure you allot enough time for a more leisurely lunch.

My pick: Grill chicken salad, breadsticks and a fine adult beverage.

of sandwiches that are hard to beat in Fountain Hills. The staff
is friendly and always willing to accommodate their guests.

in from Minnesota, but leaves a lot to be desired in service.

Freeder’s is located in the clubhouse of Desert Canyon Golf Club
and offers great views of the golf course for diners. The food
is average and service is very slow at lunchtime. It is not uncommon
to have flies buzzing about, but the banter from the seniors playing
bridge is enough to entertain anyone.
<br>
This is, however, the only place to get German food in Fountain
Hills in the evening. They do a better job at dinner than lunch,
but survive on their location and setting and not the quality
of their product.
<br>
My choice: Club sandwich with fries for lunch…. Anything they
offer German in the evening and a martini to drowned the flies.

The wine selection is second to none and the lounge patio sets
the mood for any romantic evening. I recommend a table against
the window with an arrival time before sunset. The view of the
city is amazing and following sunset, the city lights are sure
to please.

The Caesar salad for two, prepared tableside is a must and any
chocolate desert is to-die-for.
<br>
My choice: Chef’s Tasting Menu, Banana’s Flambé for two and a
2000 Adler Fels Late Harvest Gewurztraminer.

in the Royal Palms Resort and Spa, T. Cook’s Executive Chef Derek
Morgan is a treat. His knowledge of food and wine pairing is impeccable
and his unique touches make the most hardened food critic take
notice.

The romantic setting will set the stage for an experience not
found at some of the more exclusive, better-known restaurants
in town. The staff is gracious and warm; attending to every detail
of their guests. They even have a full time Director of Romance,
Paul Xanthopoulos.
<br>
Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, this restaurant will seal
any business deal and turn any suitors thoughts, lightly to love.
The wine list is extensive and the sommelier is quite knowledgeable.
<br>
My choice: Jumbo lump crab cake with lemon thyme butter and micro
greens, Pear and organic green salad with spiced pecans and Maytag
bleu cheese, Seared duck breast with butternut squash risotto
and Swiss chard.
<br>
My favorite for romance and special occasions.
