I really like Jimmy John's subs. I've always had an excellent sandwich and with little to no waiting, except at the peak of the noon rush; even then, the wait time was less than most other sub shops. I frequently have one of their subs for lunch, as they are MUCH quicker filling your order than Subway. One reason is they have some standard sub features you can order by number, ie #8 Billy Club. They will also custom make your sub, if you prefer. less

The seafood options in Sioux Falls have gotten considerably better now that Joey's has opened. Like most midwestern cities, aside from Red Lobster and a few seafood offerings (primarily shrimp) at most restaraunts, Sioux Falls has had pretty limited choices. Joey's offers a nice variety of seafood choices at reasonable prices, along with nightly specials (that frequently don't appear on the regular menu). We've already tried the lobster fettucini, crab cakes, battered shrimp, lobster seafood roll, the blue crab melt and the crab & artichoke dip (our favorite). Joey's also offers various steak and burger options, we just haven't had a chance to try them yet - lol I highly recommend visiting Joey's the next time you're in the mood for seafood! less

FINALLY, Brookings has a true upscale fine dining establishment!! Since Casper's closed a few years ago, although there are many decent restaraunts in Brookings, none of them really had the quality or atmosphere of the finer dining establishments in Sioux Falls. On our 1st visit, we were lucky enough to get seated at the bar, as we hadn't made reservations ahead of time. The crab cakes were delicious and my prime rib sandwich was perhaps the most tender and tasty I've ever had. My wife was equally impressed with dinner salmon salad. Bravo's get my highest recommendation for dining in Brookings! less

A Brookings stable for at least 20 years or more, George's isn't the fanciest restaraunt in town but they do have a lot of variety of Greek / American / Pizza offerings as well as an excellent salad bar. A college favorite, they also have a walk up carry out window on the street where you can buy pizza by the slice! less

We finally got a chance to check out the Tre Lounge, I think it's owned by the same group that owns CJ Calloways. Long story short, we like it! They're located at the same location that Theo's and 601 Arota used to be. Easier to find now that the intersection has been revamped and the Get N Go is recessed from Minnesota and you can actually see the restaraunt from Minnesota Ave. We wamted to try as broad a selection as we could on our 1st visit, so my wife had the "Sweet & Spicy Bourbon Glazed Salmon w/pumpkin mashed, asparagus, pecans and fress cracked pepper ($22) and I made a meal of the appetizers; New England Crab Cakes & the Seafood Bisque - ($11 + $6) I like seafood but I'm not a big fan of Salmon, until I tasted my wife's order. The Bourbon Glazed Salmon is likely the most flavorful Salmon I've ever tasted. We're going back tomorrow night just because I want to try a full order myself! The NE Crab Cakes were terrific (my wife's family is from Boston and we're picky), the Seafood Bisque was a tomato Biscqe base and absolutely delicious. Since we have a personal need to be in Sioux Falls at least a couple of times a week, we hope to make this more of a habit, from now on. less

I grew up in Effingham and the Midway has been around longer than I've been alive. That should say something about their ability to adapt and keep a crowd coming in! They've got the closest sandwiches to the old "Hi-Boy" and "Swiss-Boy" around. That will keep the boomers like me coming around. I hear they have a great Sunday Brunch, as well. I don't get home as much as I used to, but I always make it to the Midway. less
