If you like authentic and well prepared Japanese cuisine, then Makotos
is your restaurant. I have been a customer of this establishment for
nearly 20 years, and I have never been disappointed by their service
nor quality of food. Dining takes place around a large table in which
a grill is set in the middle. Customers sit around the table (usually
room for eight or nine people) as a Japanese Chef prepares individually
ordered entrees. The food preparation and cooking is a show in and of
itself.
As the food is cooking before your very eyes, your mouth begins to water
as the aroma penetrates your senses. As each food item is finished cooking,
the chef scoops ample portions on your plate. There is always more than
enough, and most folks usually leave with a doggie bag of left-overs
that is shaped into an "aluminum foil-animal" such as a
bunny or a swan.
If you are looking for a great place to dine where you will be entertained
as well as eat delicious Japanese style food, then look no further.
Makotos will ensure that you have both an enjoyable and memorable dining
experience.

I was going to give this place a try next week, but after reading the review
dated January 2, 2007, I've reconsidered. Based on that Dine.com
Review, the owner sounds rude and overbearing. Sorry, but I won't
be eating at this place. There are too many other good places to eat in
Central Brevard without having to suffer sarcastic comments from
a surly restaurateur.

For very good reason, I haven't been in Kloiber's for several
years. When this place first opened, it was great. The service was friendly
and efficient, and the food was delicious. The owner would walk around
and greet his customers, and seemed like a genuine down to Earth nice
kind of guy. We liked the place so much that my wife and I would eat there
four to five times per week. Then, about ten years ago, something changed.
The manager (I think she was the owner's wife), would argue with
customers over the most trivial things. For instance, like when they
requested things like one or two extra salad dressing, she'd pitch
a rip-roaring tantrum. She'd finally acquiesce but not before
asserting that there would be a charge for the extra dressing. I thought,
hey go ahead and charge me if you want, but it was free the day before yesterday.
Then, for whatever reason, the owner stopped greeting customers like
he did during the initial few years . He would often be sitting on a picnic
table, drinking a beer, on the outside of the back entrance. He would
barely nod as customers walked inside. Since this happened on numerous
occasions, we thought maybe he just didn't like us for whatever
reason; however, friends of mine had received the same cold shoulder
treatment. Then, a few years ago something happened that was the straw
that broke the camel's back. It was 730pm and I was heading home
from work. I thought I would stop in Kloiber's and get a Chef Salad
to go. The food handler on duty was male who had been working there for
a few years. The guy had long hair that went half way down his back. Well,
he seemed none to happy when I placed my order to go. He said, "we
close at 8pm, you know." I said, but it's only 7:35pm."
He then said, "I'll have to charge you for the two extra salad
dressings which will be a dollar extra." I told him that was fine.
It was obvious this guy didn't feel like working, and was doing
his best to dissuade me from ordering. When I did not relent, he then
got the lettuce canister out of the fridge and took off the lid. Using
his long guitar-strumming fingers, he started stroking the back of
his long hair. That did it for me. I walked out without saying a word.
The food guy got what he wanted, and Kloiber's lost a regular good
paying customer. That night was my last visit to Kloiber's. I could
tolerate the cold shoulder and the resentment over the extra salad
dressing, but I will not put up with an unsanitary food handler. Hopefully,
that guy is now gone, and Kloiber's is back on the customer oriented
service track. I realize a lot of people really like the place and that's
fine. My last several experiences there were not good ones. Like I said
those experiences were from a few years ago. I might give them another
try in the next few weeks just to see if anything has changed. Who knows,
maybe I'll be giving them more stars on the next review.

This Cracker Barrel opened about 15 years ago. I remember it being
a fairly decent place to eat for the first couple of years. Then,
something happened and things got really bad. Service became
sloppy and food quality slumped to that which is typical of interstate
eateries. About five years ago, I got so tired of the poor service
and quality that I stopped going in there. Tonight, I decided
to give them another try, and I'm happy to say that things
have improved. First off, I think they have a new manager who appeared
to be on top of things. My waitress, Christine, was very energetic
and attentive without being intrusive. Because of her, I gave
this place an extra star for a four star rating. I ordered the turkey
dinner and it wasn't half bad except the dressing had the
consistency of paper-mache, and pretty much tasted that way,
too. The mashed sweet potatoes were delicious. Overall, I have
to say that the place has improved since my last visit over five
years ago. I hope it keeps on improving. Titusville sure needs
more good quality restaurants.

The other day I phoned in a carry-out order for a Combo Ginder and
a Greek Salad. When ordering by phone, they want your first name,
last name, and telephone number. I thought the girl was going
to ask me for my height, weight, and social security number. I
brought home the food and was very disappointed. The greek salad
was 90 percent lettuce that was mostly brown. The grinder had
fallen apart and most of the toppings (i.e., tomatoes, olives,
etc.) were laying loose in the bag. It was a real mess. Half the
grinder remained intact and was okay, but nothing to brag about.
I think this place is over rated. From now on, when I want a sub or
sandwich, I'll go to Pumpernickel's or Subway. When
I want Italian, I'll go to Valentino's.

always been friendly. In my estimation, they are a notch above

I ate lunch here a couple of months ago. I had a cheeseburger and
French fries. The hamburger was brolied and not grilled which
is okay if you like it that way. The french fries tasted like they
were baked after being frozen. I ordered a coke and received a
12oz can of Coca-Cola and a glass with some ice. The server was
very friendly ans so was the manager. While it has been years since
I've eaten breakfast here, I remember that their breakfast
meals were delicious and not very expensive.
