The deep-dish crust is light, crunchy ... more When visiting Chicago, you must try the ORIGINAL Pizzeria Uno. (or Pizzeria Due, a block away). Ike Sewell and Ric Ricardo opened Pizzeria Uno in 1943 and they have been serving great deep-dish pizza ever since. The deep-dish crust is light, crunchy and delicious. The tomatoes have a wonderful tomato flavor and the cheese and toppings are first rate! When Ike passed away, the original restaurants were sold to Uno Corporation, and franchised throughout the United States. The original Uno's and Due's still make the same recipe however the franchises (even those in the Chicago area) DO NOT use the same recipe and are not a good representation of the original. Lou Manati's Pizza with various locations in the Chicago area make similiar and also very good deep-dish pizza. That is not just by accident. Rudy Malnati, the founder, used to work at the original Uno's. Also try Primo Pizza in Barrington. I own it! That's why I know a little pizza history. I have a number of friends with whom I bet dinner at Gibsons depending on who has the better record. (Cubs or Sox)as well as the Bears & Packers. The bad news is that I've paid for MANY dinners here. The good news is I've never had a bad meal. Excellent steaks and lobster. Very good service. If Gibsons is open, it's almost always crowded and noisy, but the food is great. If you can't get into Gibsons, try Hugo's FRog Bar, right next door. They serve the same delicious steaks. Also, Gibsons in Rosemont is usually much easier to get reservations. HINT: Split the potatoes and side dishes. There will be plenty. less

Good steaks, although I've seen the Chop House names as best steak house in Chicago on several occasions and would prefer Gibsons, Smith & Wollensky's or Eli's. Overall, good but not great.

There was something I found both somewhat arrogant and yet interesting that the only option was the size and degree of doneness to your prime rib. No chicken, no fish. PRIME RIB. Period! They have since updated the menu and now do have a variety, including fish. But the reason I go to Lawrey's is for, you guessed it, the prime rib. Also great creamed corn. Those big silver portable carving stations are pretty cool too! less

Originally run by Arnie Morton (Arnie's restaurant was on the second floor)this is an old standby which although maybe overshadowed by the more trendy Gibsons, still turns out terrific food. less

Although it is often stated as one of the best steak houses in Chicago, I personally prefer Gibsons, Morton's, Smith & Wollensky's or even the Chop House. The food at G&G is good, the steaks prime cut, but the entire dining experience is not as upscale as the three previously mentioned even though the prices are about the same. Not a bad meal by any means, just not on the same level as some of the other top steak joints in Chicago, in my opinion. less

Rick Bayless is a master of Mexican cuisine. This is by no means your typical burrito or taco stand (which I love by the way). The food here is fine Mexican dining. Very creative. A wide variety of new taste experiences. Very, very good food.

Contrary to a widely held belief, the crust is really not very thick at all. The pizza is just made in a pan, hence the deep-dish term. The rather thin crust is light and crisp. The sausage, a patty covering the entire pizza, is garlicky and delicious. The tomatoes are very lightly seasoned and yet they have a terrific, ripe flavor. There is only a thin layer of cheese and yet this pizza has a perfect flavor balance. less
