Sakura is truly one of the best dining experiences I have had.
In fact, we've incorporated it into our "date night", and it's
our favorite place to go. The food quality is always consistent,
and the service is excellent.
Like many Japanese retaurants, Sakura cooks all the food right
on your table. It's like getting a dinner and a show all wrapped
up into one. On slow nights, the cooks will add a little humor into
their performance, "aaahhh... it's an egg roll"... as they spin
a raw egg on the cooktop. Then poof! The egg shells are tossed into
the air, and magically disappear into the chef's hat. It's great
to watch.
Better yet, the food is excellent. Your entree price includes
a salad, soup, appetizer and entree. The soup is a clear miso broth,
with delicate mushrooms and circles of green onions. The salad
is small, but tasteful. It's served with a ginger-root dressing.
At first, the dressing seems a little odd, but after a few bites
you are hooked.
The sushi, too is excellent, but I often pass on that. There's
way too much food, and you won't be able to eat it all. If you do choose
to have sushi, make sure you order it first. You have to specifically
request it from your waitress, and it often comes too late.
You have your choice of appetizers: mushrooms, liver, or shrimp;
and a great selection of entrees as well (steak, filet mignon,
chicken, lobster, shrimp, etc). I found the regular steak tough
and grizzly when I tried it, but the filet is always good. The rest
of the food is delicious.
This is a great spot for an evening out. It's like visiting the
heart of DC, without the drive.

At first glance, Cafe Mileto looks to be an authentic Italian
restaurant. The entrees sound delicious, and the atmosphere
is casual and warm. Even the aromas make your mouth water.
Unfortunately, the food is pretty weak. The pasta dishes could
have come from a can of Ragu, and their meats were disappointing.
Even their deep fried appetizers, like calamari, were sad: they
were extremely greasy, and the marinara sauce was simply pureed
tomatos.
The service was poor as well. We stood in line for quite some time,
and the staff was unable to help us when we asked about the ingredients.
All in all, this was a very disappointing experience. I have to
admit, that I will not be going there again.

There is a great selection of "roasted meals", plus a myriad of
sandwich-style meals. And the kids love it, too.
They also offer a wide array of great side items. My personal favorites
are the red-skinned mashed potatoes and the creamed spinach,
but you can choose whatever you like. And if you're not watching
calories, their desserts can't be missed!
The best part about this Chicken Out is the service. The managers
and staff members are always willing to answer questions, and
they make themselves available to everyone. The wait is minimal,
and you can even call ahead with your order!
