Mama Lazardo's Pizza & Subs Floyd, VA
Best pizza available within a 50-mile radius -- the "Buffalo Special" (note: Buffalo Mountain is a scenic attraction in Floyd County, plus the name of the Floyd High School football team) is a real taste treat/bargain for the price. The subs are made fresh on home-baked rolls, with many choices of contents and dressings. A large salad is featured for $5. -- includes lettuce, onions, black olives, ham and cheese roll-ups, etc. We always buy the salad to accompany our Buffalo Special pizza.
Blue Ridge Restaurant Floyd, VA
The Blue Ridge restaurant is a local tradition -- still serving delicious, homemade breakfast at a reasonable price despite the first fast-food restaurant in Floyd that opened a couple of years ago just down the street. Lunches and dinners are the best, and don't miss their homemade pies! Yum!!
Floyd Xpress Deli & Gas Floyd, VA
A great place to pick up a breakfast biscuit (competitively prices with Hardee's), or a pork barbeque sandwich with or without slaw and cottage fries. Also, make sure to get a double-scoop cone -- Hershey's ice cream featured in a true variety of flavors.
Pine Tavern Restaurant Floyd, VA
This restaurant does serve spirits -- and a weird menu, touting itself as a New Age sort of establishment. Whoever heard of trout salad? Sorry, but I found it overpriced, the menu selection limited, and the portions small.
Ray's Restaurant Floyd, VA
Ray's caters to families in the dining room, and to folks who want to sit at the bar and have drinks and perhaps a sandwich in a different section. The Friday night crablegs special, with full vegetable and salad bar, is the best deal in town. Burgers and other items on menu are fresh. Ray's also caters, and the restaurant is available for special events and banquets.
Charlie's Chinese Restaurant Christiansburg, VA
Sweet and sour shrimp is the best. Broccoli and beef second, in my view, but there are plenty of items on the menu, and each is a good choice at a reasonable price. Good place to meet business associates for lunch.
Dude's Drive In Christiansburg, VA
Dude's is a Christiansburg tradition, been here for years. The Big DudeBurger is the best in town. Footlong subs with or without chili and slaw and onions, regular or cottage fries or tater tots, no matter what your order it's ready in a hurry, and a complete lunch runs no more than $3.50 or $4.
El Puerto Mexican Christiansburg, VA
Mexican food prepared and served by true Latinos! The Speedy Gonzalez is just one of dozens of specials. Mexican beer available along with Bud and Busch. Their enchiladas and taco salad are some of the best I've ever eaten, and I've lived in many places. I recommend this restaurant highly, for prompt but discreet service and delicious food. A Mariachi band sometime appears on Friday nights.
Kabuki Japanese Steak House Christiansburg, VA
I went to the Kabuki for a "bon voyage" dinner for a co-worker, in a party of nine people. In my opinion, one experience at Kabuki was enough for me. How many bean sprouts can you eat? I ordered the lobster tail and filet mignon special -- didn't expect to have both hacked up into pieces. The younger kids seemed to enjoy the "presentation, " but this over-fifty lady won't be going there again, much less take my husband along, who expects a banquet for that price.
Country Kitchen Christiansburg, VA
You can always identify a good place to eat by the presence of law enforcement and truckers. If you stop here, do not miss their Macaroni and Cheese -- it deserves to be capitalized! Other home-cooked items are equally delicious.
Rocco's Christiansburg, VA
Pizza, burgers, salads, Hershey's ice cream, calzones, and the best potato skins around (cheddar and chili, or sour cream and chives). We often order from Rocco's from the office -- they deliver. Eat-in at booths, too.
Stone's Cafeteria Christiansburg, VA
The salad with grilled chicken or without will run you about $5. Stone's has a great breakfast bar (better than Shoney's, if you like country cooking). Some of the staff have worked there for 20 years or more, and this restaurant is a fine place for seniors to have lunch and dinner due to their specials. Very busy at lunch, though. Don't miss their coconut cream pie, or their strawberry pie, or their Boston Cream pie!
Texas Steak House Christiansburg, VA
My steak was prepared precisely as I ordered it -- baked potato was crispy-skinned, soft and tender inside. Chili excellent, and don't miss out on the French-fried vidalia onion "blossom."
Martha Washington Inn Abingdon, VA
Elegant, antebellum decor, starched tablecloths, fine service, the works. Check out their chicken cordon bleu and peanut soup. Great desserts, too.
Julian's Restaurant Richmond, VA
The pasta with cheese dishes smothered in marinara sauce are the thing to order at Julians. Nice atmosphere, this restaurant has been in business for years. Economically-priced, fine food.
Texas Wisconsin Border Cafe Richmond, VA
The best, most generous burger in Richmond. Great atmosphere, and frequented by many of the college set from Virginia Commonwealth University.
China Buffet Chinese Rstrnt Richmond, VA
The China Buffet buffet has the most appetizing and varied selection I've ever encountered in any Chinese restaurant. Everything looks and tastes "clean, " as if the bar items are replenished periodically and not allowed to "sit" all day.
Bogart's Restaurant Richmond, VA
An upscale place, been there for years -- great sandwiches, old-time movie decor, interesting place to meet for lunch at a reasonable price.
Joe's Inn Richmond, VA
Delightful Italian food, fine wine, tasty desserts -- unassuming restaurant caters to college couples and families alike.,
Village Cafe Richmond, VA
Subs, gyros, Greek entrees -- "fun" atmosphere, as this cafe is frequented by all types of people of all ages. Good service, music on the jukebox. Always an interesting menu selection.
