| Flamingo Pizza Palace | Cedar Rapids, IA | |
|
A long time favorite noted for Pizzas sandwiches and "lunch counter"
style foods. Neighborhood bar atmosphere with a moderately
sized dining area. friendly service, quality foods. good for
after work or evening "beer and Pizza" style dinner. I like the
potato skins and honey weise beer. Tv's in every corner so you
can watch the game(s).

| Park Place Restaurant | Cedar Rapids, IA | |
|
Upscale inside atrium style restaraunt inside the Collins Plaza
hotel. Great variety, well seasoned, prepared to order. Very
good service. The lunch buffet is a favorite with the area businessmen.
Specials on Friday evenings call for details.

| Starlite Room | Cedar Rapids, IA | |
|
Neighborhood bar & restauraunt with long standing popularity
amoung the locals. The 1/3 lb hamburgers and jumbo breaded pork
tenderloin sandwiches are favorites. Betcha can't eat more
than one. Service is prompt and friendly. Friday lunches can
get very crowded as the regulars meet for weekend wind down. Can
also get noisy but everyone is friendly.

| Teddy's Steakhouse | Cedar Rapids, IA | |
|
Classic style steak house. Steak house menu (turf and limited
surf) in downtown cedar Rapids. Very popular with the "downtown"
crowd. Good choice of steak dishes (sirloin, rib eye, etc.) with
good flavor. This isn't my favorite steak house but it is enjoyable.
Service is good and the portions are average to large. Wine list
is ok for Cedar Rapids. The room can get hot and crowded.

| Irish Democrat Pub & Grille | Cedar Rapids, IA | |
|
A great neihborhood hangout and meeting place with Irish Pub
atmosphere. Specializing in lunch, afternoon, and early evening
drinks, sandwiches, and soups. Try the Irish Stew. Park in rear
of building. Its easier.

| Dragon Cafe | Cedar Rapids, IA | |
|
a family onwed and operated business downtown in Cedar Rapis
for at least 35 years. Cantonese style Chinese food with traditional
"oriental restaraunt" drinks (Mai Tai, etc) and decor. Quality
food and average portions. Family style banquet dinners for
3 or more. Try the Dragons Special. Street parking or downtown
parking lot. Interior decor is clean but needs updating.

| Cafe De Klos | Cedar Rapids, IA | |
|
A full service old world restaraunt with class. Uncrowded, genteel
manner with a good menu and generous portions. fesh flowers are
common. Ordinary but good wine cellar. Service is very good by
Midwestern standards and the food is excellent. Take someone
here to impress them or for a romantic evening. The specialty
is a cinnamon sauce that is used in nearly every dish. I would rate
this restaraunt even higher except the I tire of the sauce after
a couple visits. Park in the lot to the South of the building or
on the street.

| Pei's Mandarin Restaurant | Cedar Rapids, IA | |
|
A good general purpose Mandarin style restaraunt. No suprises,
no disapointments. Good menu selection, good quality food,
prepared to order in the standard Mandarin manner. Drinks are
also typical of this style restaraunt (tea, "cokes", beer, or
cocktails). Very popular with neighborhood businesses during
the lunch hour when prices are about $5 and service is fast. Can
be crowded and a bit hectic at these times. Party room available
on request. easy access, good parking.

| El Rancho Mexican Restaurant | Cedar Rapids, IA | |
|
Relatively new family owned and operated Mexican restaraunt
with above average quality and large portions. Properly spiced
and cooked this restaraunt has become one of our favorites. The
business is new and building on itself so the building decor is
not the best. However, the owners are making improvements and
the results are attractive.

| Iowa River Power Co | Coralville, IA | |
|
Great Place to relax and watch the river. Get a table overlooking
the dam if you can. Service is above average, the menu is above
adequate, and the food is usually very good. I would rate this
place better but there have been a 1 or 2 times when the food was
not good for some reason. I will definitely go back.

| House of Lords Restaurant | Coralville, IA | |
|
English steak house atmosphere, good food, adequate service.
Typical "steak and ale" menu with adequate portions. Nice place
to relax. However, the room can get uncomfortably hot, especially
in the semi private dining booths. The ice cream drinks are the
best I have found and we often come here for desert drinks.

| Linn Street Cafe | Iowa City, IA | |
|
Outstanding palate pleasure, ok atmosphere, good service.
I will go back again and again when in town. The menu is imaginative
and variety is good. Service can be slow because it is always busy.
Its worth the wait. I can't recommend any one dish because they
are all good.

| Carlos O'Kelly's | Iowa City, IA | |
|
Good "Americanized" Mexican restaraunt. The best chips and
salsa I have found (except the chips are all white, no colors/flavors).
Good menu, good service, party atmosphere. The steak picado
is my favorite but you have to ask for it. Otherwise try the fajitas
or enchiladas.

| Ced-Rel Supper Club | Cedar Rapids, IA | |
|
THIS IS NOT A MEXICAN RESTARAUNT AS LISTED. This is a classic "road
house" or Midwest Supper Club style restaraunt with outstanding
meats and basic dishes. Nothing gormet or adventurous but the
baked beens are unique (good). The vegetable "appetizer" plates
are a nice touch. The steaks and prime rib are the best offerings
but chicken is a close second. Service is friendly. The dining
rooms can become crowded on weekends. So can parking.

||
| Winifred's | Cedar Rapids, IA | |
|
Excellent quality, good selection, generous portions, well
prepared. The menu includes the basic steaks, seafood, and poultry
as well as some exceptional pork and even frog legs. This is a favorite
for upscale dining in Cedar Rapids. The only detraction is the
extensive woodwork in the rather small dining area makes for
a noisy setting which can be hot when its busy.

||
| Dockside | Cedar Rapids, IA | |
|
Great view of the Cedar River. Especially nice in the Summer.
Friendly service, standard menu of steaks, chops, and chicken.
Some fish but did not try it. The food was ok, not great. this has
the setting and location to become a great restaraunt with a better
menu and kitchen.
