| 1930 Shanghai | San Francisco, CA | |
|
Elagantly decorated establishment in the business district. The food
is good but overpriced. You can eat as well if not better at a
fraction of the cost ina nice setting at Elizas (2 locations). the
service and 1930 Shanmhai was somewhat disjointed for a fancy
establishment. It was not smooth and few minor flaws can easily be
corrected by better supervision. A nice place to tak out of town
visitors if cost is not a factor.

| Saigon Saigon | San Francisco, CA | |

One of the best Vietnamis resturants, however, not as good as Tu Lan
at 8 6th Street. Lan at 8 6th Street. Has white tableclothes, is
clean and has a nice ambience. Watch the neighborhood since problems
exist day and night.

tourists. Good and friendly service. Owner, from Greece,
is a grat host. A nice place to spend some time during the

| Hong Kong Restaurant | San Francisco, CA | |
|
Basic good Chinese food, fast service and cheap prices but
food tends to be greasy and the meats not trimmed to
eliminate throwaway parts which is the case with many cheaper Chinese
restaurants. Often the homeless block the entarance. The service is
cold and unfriendly.

| Fountain Court Restaurant | San Francisco, CA | |
|
Great Shanghai food in a very nice setting. Have eaten here for a
number of years and have found all items to be well prepared and very
tasty. Beware ot hostess, you may get your head bitten off.

| House of Nan King | San Francisco, CA | |
|
Most overated Chinese restaurant I have encountered in the Bay
Area. Food is tasty but not the best ingredients and it tends to be
greasy. The service is the poorest encountered in the City and the
service borders below rude. It is very hetic place where customersz
are showed around and courtesy is not a consideration. For a great
meal, served in a peaceful setting, try Chef Gia's next door.

| The Bagelry | San Francisco, CA | |
|
In the 15 years I have lived in San Francisco, the best bagels I have
found, without a doubt, are at the Bagelry. They boild their bagels
so they do not tast like bread like some of their competitors. Try
them, you will not be dissapointed.

| Harvey's | San Francisco, CA | |
|
A pleasant, naturally lighted and spacious establishment in
the Castro. A well trained and friendly staff. Well
managed and outgoing establishment. Food is innovative,
very good, and visually very attractiv;e. Bring your
camera to photograph the food.

| Suppenkueche Restaurant | San Francisco, CA | |
|
I have lived three years in Germany (traveled extensively) and have
eaten more than my share of German food as a foreigner. The only thing
German about this place are the ingredients used. The preparation, the
taste and quality is the best I have had on either coast or in
Germany. The decor is spartan, which is typical of a German
Guesthouse.
The beers are very good.

| Schroeder's Restaurant | San Francisco, CA | |
|
Typical heavy German food. Great bar!
|
||
| Speckmann's | San Francisco, CA | |
|
Best German ambience found in a restaurant in the Bay area. They even
play German music!
The food is typical heavy German food with sauerkraut,
red cabbage and heavy potatoes.

| Boulevard | San Francisco, CA | |
|
Great decor, especially the wine cellar dining area. The
food should be better for the price, but that is not to
say that it is not good. Service tends to be average for
this type of restaurant.

recommended. Nice place to take visitors.

| Sam's Grill And Seafood Restaurant | San Francisco, CA | |
|
Great seafood! Ambience is reminicent of a dark and old
time (East Coast) restaurant. Service can at times be
abrupt New York style! Great place for lunch.

||
| Hayes Street Grill | San Francisco, CA | |
|
My favorite seafood restaurant in San Francisco. The
food and drinks are excellent. The decor reminds me of
New England. The service is friendly and professional.
It can be hectic before curain time so if you have a
choice do not go befor curtain call on theater nights.
