| Shorty's Diner | Staunton, VA | |
|
The atmosphere is great. Service was very good and quick. Prices
are outrageously low for what you get. A full dinner (meat, potato
and veggie) for under $10. Food was tasty. Rest facilities were
clean. And for travelers, close to I-81 -- easy off, easy on.

| Wayn'e Barbeque | Baltimore, MD | |
|
We went here on New Year's Day. The Inner Harbour info said the
mall'd be open at 10 a.m. We were starved. Everything was closed!
But Wayne's!!!
We weren't so sure about eating at a barbeque place for breakfast but we were pleasantly surprised. Seated right away. Fresh, strong coffee. Nice meal. Hearty portions. They only serve scrambled eggs or omelletes I believe so you might want pancakes if you don't like scrambled eggs! |

| Cork Street Tavern | Winchester, VA | |
|
Very good food here. The ribs really are good! The burgers are
good too. The mixed vegetables are frozen which isn't great but
at least they're an asian mix so it's not just peas and carrots.
I would stay away from the house salad. It's good but nothing special
for $2.95 ala carte. Try the BB-Q pork sandwich. It is truly outstanding!

| Linda & Dannys Kitchen | Martinsburg, WV | |
|
The problem with Linda and Danny's is that it's inconsistent.
One time you go and the food is good. The next time, it's awful.
I've stopped going despite that it's convenient for lunch. My
husband and I went there one day for lunch and ordered the special
-- chicken and dumplings. I found 3 small pieces of chicken on
a plate swimming with dumplings and gravy. Wasn't worth it or
that good. Another time, my husband ordered the country ham with
breakfast. It tasted like someone had poured an entire salt shaker
on it. Inedible. They make really good pies though.

Excellent food. Tremendous portions. If you're really hungry,
Elvis. Go early because it gets crowded. Atmosphere is kitchy
but cool.

| Jolly Sailor Pub | Stuart, FL | |
|
This is the "flagship" restaurant of the old restored section
of Stuart, Florida. The owner is a nice guy. The place is almost
always crowded (although tables are usually available for a
5 or less minute wait.)The British theme is interesting and the
restaurant ambience itself is pleasant. That being said, the
food is fair, the menu is limited and the prices are a little high,
all things considered. We prefer the restaurant across the street.
Better food, better prices, better overall menu.

| Bono's Bar-B-Q & Grill | Stuart, FL | |
|
This is very good barbeque, North Carolina style. Every weekend,
they have an all you can eat rib special that is outstanding. If
you want lighter fare, they have a large salad with your choice
of smoked meat, including turkey. Prices are very reasonable
and you can eat some meals for under $5.00. Good portions. Fast
and friendly service.

| Artichoke Cafe | Stuart, FL | |
|
Oh my! This place is outstanding. I've never had a bad meal here.
The baked potato soup is stupendous (every Thursday!!!). I do
not generally like potato salad but will eat theirs with relish.
The grilled eggplant sandwich (with fontina cheese)is wonderful
and I regularly eat the vegetable sandwich -- lots of veggies,
melted cheese and a red pepper mayo (pay the extra for the artichokes
and cucumbers) on french baguette. And speaking of the bread
-- fresh homemade and delicious. The salads are large, the sandwiches
are too. They used to have unbelievable desserts but I haven't
noticed them on the menu lately. Doesn't matter, after lunch
you don't have room for dessert!
Very clean, nice ambiance, good service. And they deliver too.
Only open lunch M-F, a little high priced for lunch and tables
can go quickly but worth every penny and the wait for a table.

| Metro Blues Cafe | Stuart, FL | |
|
I've been here a few times. I have friends that rave about the place.
It's very, very popular and the wait for a table can be long, even
for lunch so don't go if you have a set lunch break; you'll never
get back to work on time.
I have not tried the restaurant for dinner so I can't comment on
dinner entrees. I tend to eat soup, salad and/or sandwiches for
lunch. The mediterranean sandwich wrap(with hummus on pita)
was okay.I think it's got good but not great food. It's a little
high priced for lunch. Portions are large however and "doggy
bags" are often necessary.
The ambience is nice. Service is okay, not great. Getting a water refill the last time I was there seemed problematic. BTW, the name has changed to The Metro. Same owner though. |

| Uncle Kai's | Stuart, FL | |
|
I use this as an "on the run" lunch place. I use the drive-thru mostly
-- probably once every two or three weeks. My biggest complaint
is that everything is extra -- egg roll, soup etc -- when most Chinese
restaurants give you these. Uncle Kai's is also a little more
expensive. Portions are very large however and the food is pretty
good, fresh and hot. Everything is made to order which is nice.
It was an old Taco Viva so the inside ambiance is nothing to write home about. No true wait service, you order at a counter. |

| Flamingo Family Restaurant | Stuart, FL | |
|
I don't know why this is listed under "Chinese" because it's essentially
a Greek diner.
It's a typical Northeastern style Greek diner. The food is good,
inexpensive, brought to your table quickly kind of place. Breakfast
prices can't be beat, nor can the daily specials.

| Too Jay's Original Deli | Stuart, FL | |
|
What can be said about TooJay's? I first went to a TooJay 9 years
ago (a different location). The food is fabulous. A little more
money than your average deli but everything is top-notch. Fresh,
tasty.
The corned beef sandwiches are huge. I love their chicken noodle
soup. Dinner entrees are enormous. The rye bread can't be beat
and the slices are big fat thick slices -- no skinny skimpy slices.
In fact, Too Jays doesn't seem to skimp on anything. (No I'm not
being paid -- I really love this place!) The orange cranberry
muffins are really good and so are the mini black and white cookies.
Try the "killer" cake -- essentially a brownie cake -- heaven!
The downside is that it's very popular with senior citizens and it can be crowded and noisy. At lunch during "season" (it's Florida after all), you can wait 30-45 minutes for a table, and I don't. Dinner is busy too. It's in the same shopping center as a movie theater and before and after movies, it's fairly crowded. If you have time and patience, it's worth the wait. |
