| Alligator Grille | Hilton Head Island, SC | |
|
Fabulous food, great service, nice menu. The dishes are served picture
perfect. Sushi is a good choice for an appetizer. My personal favorites
here are the petite filet and the scallops (which are wonderful). If
you have room for dessert try anything on the menu it will be perfect.
Besides all this the restaurant is sparkling clean and beautifully
decorated with a few alligators thrown in for conversation pieces.
I love this restaurant.

| Bonefish Grill | Hilton Head Island, SC | |
|
Service is improving. Atmosphere is very nice. Servers a little
too interruptive until you really need one then they are AWOL.
Food is good but I would stick to the seafood dishes--I ordered
a steak and it was dry and tough. The side dishes are very good and
so is the salad.

| The Studio | Hilton Head Island, SC | |
|
Every dish is picture perfect. The atmosphere is artsy with interesting
works on the walls and an in house artist working while you dine.
Open for dinner
Tuesday --Sunday 5:30--10:00. Leave the kids home this is too
good to waste on them. Menu choices include veal, duck, crab cakes,
seafood, chops, filet mignon etc. Order one of the specialty
martinis unlike any martini you've had, like eating candy.

| B/5 Bistro | Hilton Head Island, SC | |
|
Open at 11:30 for lunch, service contiues all day.
has fabulous early bird specials, which include soup, entree
from 5 choices and dessert for $13.95.
The service is friendly and attentive. Food is overseen by chef
owner.
Menu includes serveral crepe dishes for the crepe lover. The
dessert crepes are wonderful.
Menu is creative without getting weird.
I love this place. Children are welcome but they would never appreciate
the efforts.

| Trellis Restaurant | Williamsburg, VA | |
|
I would do this for lunch, less expensive. My husband and I shared
one of the special salads and had more than enough food.
Nice attmosphere especially if it is warm enough to sit outside.
Clean and crisp look.

||
| The Fat Canary | Williamsburg, VA | |
|
New and located directly across the street from Trellis. Clean,
crisp and fun. Has an outdoor area in front if you like to sit outside.
Very creative menu. Make reservations as this is very popular.
We got there late and there was bar seating. We had a wonderful
meal and very attentive service. The desserts are wonderful
and huge so if you order one share.

| The Olde Pink House | Savannah, GA | |
|
The setting is the Habersham House a historic mansion in downtown
Savannah. The menu is creative and interesting, with choices
of seafood, beef pork and specials daily. The service is attentive
and helpful. Desserts are wonderful. Downstairs is the Planter's
Tavern with a piano bar. A great place for a special occasion.
Leave the kids home they would not appreciate this lovely restaurant.

| Fireside Steak House | Williamsburg, VA | |

A very nice restaurant tucked among a mess of cheesy ones on Richond
Road. Very nice menu, wonderful service and good food!
Check the tourist booklets for a 10% discount. One of our favorite
affordables in the area.

| Atlanta Bread Company | Bluffton, SC | |

Atlanta Bread Company is a large chain. It is a great place to grab
a sandwich, salad or bowl of soup.
|
||
| Blake's | Bluffton, SC | |
|
Blake's is open for lunch and dinner. Lunches are very reasonable
and good. Dinner can be pricey. The atmosphere is nice but a little
too dark. Food is good.

| Mulberry Street Cafe | Bluffton, SC | |
|
A family run restaurant. The menu is creative and food is served
picture perfect. Mel Gibson recently ate here while he was in
town. The appetizers are so good sometimes I order 2 instead of
an entree.

| Mrs. Wilke's Boarding House | Savannah, GA | |
|
Mrs. Wilkes is a historical treat--even the kids will enjoy the
fun of dining with complete strangers. This is VERY POPULAR so
get there early--opens at 11:00 AM --be in line at least 15-20
minutes before. The restaurant is open Monday--Friday 11-2.
No reservations.
The food is typical low country and hearty, sweet potato souffle,
fried chicken, banana pudding, cobbler. Plan this to be the biggest
meal of the day.
PS they take NO CREDIT CARDS

| Gullah Grub | Saint Helena Island, SC | |
|
This is a family owned and operated restaurant featuring Gullah
dishes. The atmosphere is simple, decorated with Gullah baskets
and art work. The service is interesting and welcome questions
about the culture, foods, and area.
Specialties are shrimp and red rice, macaroni and cheese, ribs,
sweet potato pie, peach/berry cobbler.
They have an original beverage, Swamp Water which is lemonade
and sweet tea--the server will tell you the story behind the name.
While there make sure to visit the Penn Center (Gullah museum)
and the Red Piano Too (across the street from the restaurant)
for Gullah crafts and art work.

| Old Fort Pub Restaurant | Hilton Head Island, SC | |
|
This is an update on my previous entry---the restaurant is no
longer open for lunch---but has fabulous dinners. If you are
a local and member of the Diamond Club you will also get points
for dining here---this should rack them up fast as it is expensive.
The service is outstanding, food is outstanding, view is outstanding---all
in all outstanding. Leave the kids home this place would be wasted
on them. Might be the best over all fine dining restaurant on HHI.
