| Tim's Japanese Take Out | Portland, ME | |
Tim's recently moved into the Portland Public Market and changed
their name to Oishii Japanese Foods. They offer a wide selection
at reasonable prices. Lot's of variations here; you can choose
vegetarian, chicken, Maine shrimp, haddock, or steak in most
items. Excellent Sushi rolls, too.

| Di Millo's Floating Restaurant | Portland, ME | |
Nice place to take visitors from out of town, but not a place I'd
visit regularly. Great view of the harbor. Food is good but nothing
memorable. Leave the kids at home, grab a few drinks and perhaps
a burger. Friendly staff.

| Fuji Restaurant | Portland, ME | |
If you're out on the town for an authentic Japanese meal, this
is the place. My recommendation is the Soba or Udon noodles accompanied
by a Sushi sampler.

| Great Lost Bear | Portland, ME | |
Perhaps the best beer selection in town. And guess what? This
place is not in the Old Port. I've been there many times and have
yet to be dissapointed. Personal favorites are the grilled tuna
steak sandwich and buffalo wings.

| Buffalo Wings-N-Things | Portland, ME | |
Excellent hot wings! Possibly the best in Portland. My only comment
has to deal with the way raw chicken is handled. At the Westbrook
location they leave it out at room temperature in a large plastic
bin. Food poisoning is a definite possibility, especially towards
the end of the day. They should do something about this!

| Margaritaville Mexican Rstrnt | Portland, ME | |
More greasy fried stuff, covered with red sauce and cheese, and
passed off as Mexican food. If this is what you think of as Mexican,
you'll love this place. Drinks ain't half bad, however.
| Gritty Mc Duff's | Portland, ME | |
Portland's original microbrew pub. Great beer! Gritty's Best
Brown is a personal favorite, as are the beer battered fish-n-chips
and the Reuben sandwich.
| Amato's Italian Sandwich Shops | Portland, ME | |
Best Italian sandwich around. Lot's of variations on the theme,
also. For the vegitarians, check out the eggplant Italian. Their
pizza rocks pretty hard also. My favorite is the spinach, feta,
greek olive pizza. Buffalo wings are OK but not a specialty. Try
the pazzo bread. Staff is friendly and fast.

| Wok Inn | Portland, ME | |
A lot of people like this place, so I guess there's strength in
numbers. Then again, most people are pretty thick, and the Wok
Inn caters to the lowest common denominator. The menu is huge,
the crew is fast, and the food is pretty greasy and pretty average.
Order a #23, it dosen't matter what it is 'cause it all tastes the
same.

| G'Vanni's Restaurant | Portland, ME | |
Excellent! This place is much more than pasta covered with red
sauce. Originally from Boston; they brought their beantown
prices with them, which is the ONLY downside. Go for lunch if you
want value and quality.
| Granny's Burritos | Portland, ME | |
Like the name says, they make Burritos, and do a damn good job.
Vegitarian chili is pretty good, too. Friendly crew, good service.
| Boone's Restaurant | Portland, ME | |
Another place to take visitors from out of town. Very average,
but safe food, bland and great for the unadventurous.
| Three Dollar Deweys | Portland, ME | |
Best beer selection in the Old Port, both on tap and bottled. Large
menu selection with a variety of burgers, entrees, and apetizers.
Always one or more vegetarian selections. Free popcorn available.
Often crowded in the evening. Personal recommendation is the
smoked seafood chowder.
| Cafe Stroudwater | Portland, ME | |
For a motel restaurant this place ain't bad. It helps if you're
on an expense account as it's a bit pricey for Portland. Not much
atmosphere either.
| Dolphin Marine Svc | Harpswell, ME | |
Friendly crew, great views of the harbor, topped off with great
food. The menu isn't large, consisting of the usual burgers,
sandwiches, and entrees. My personal favorites are the seafood
dinners (fried scallops or Maine shrimp) and the lobster roll.
I go there often, and even turn out of town visitors onto it if they're
nice.

| Great Wall Buffet | South Portland, ME | |
Big selection and all you can eat; a glutton's delight! Problem
here is similar to the Wok Inn. The food is generic, bland, and
unadventurous... perfect end to a day at the mall. However, if
it's CHEAP you're looking for and quanity over quality, you've
hit paydirt.
| Ricetta's Brickoven Pizzeria | South Portland, ME | |
Yep, it's pricey alright. That doesn't seem to bother the clientele,
as this place is packed most nights. They do take-out and have
several delivery drivers. Consistently voted Portland's Best
Pizza. Very creative gourmet pizzas; my fave is the Melanzano
Diavolo.
| Weathervane Restaurant | South Portland, ME | |
Portions are big, crew is friendly, and prices are among the lowest
around for this type of food. Lunch can be had for under 5 bucks.
Huge selection, too. My personal favorite is the Calamari dinner.
| Wok Inn | South Portland, ME | |
Very average, very generic, very greasy, but also very cheap.
Unadventurous oriental fast-food take out. Order a #23... It
doesn't matter what it is 'cause it's all the same. You'll probably
get an egg roll, chicken wing, teriaki strip, rice, and some sort
of main dish. The Wok Inn has been around for ages and caters to
the lowest common denominator of the dining public. Best thing
about the place? It beats McDonald's.
| Imperial China Chinese Rstrnt | South Portland, ME | |
I love their General Tso's Chicken and the Hot & Sour soup. Go for
lunch and it can be had for about five bucks. Dinner's a bit more
but the quality and quanity make it a bargain.
