|
Cozy country dining with a right at home atmosphere added to great
food equals the Pump House. In season you can even dine on the outdoor
patio alongside a small waterfall...a great experience for
the soul as well as the palate.

The look of the place and the food lead to a pleasant evening. While

| Silver Spring Farm | Flanders, NJ | |
|
Some of the finest French cuisine one can imagine is to be found
in this out of the way throwback to another time. When I forgot
a momentous wedding anniversary a few years ago, this was where
I got myself out of trouble. The decor is from another more pleasant
time and the food is to dream about !

| Perona Farms | Andover, NJ | |
|
Elegant dining especially of the Sunday Brunch buffet variety,
Not only is their food prepared exquisitely, its presentation
is flawless ! Its out of the way location only adds to its many charms.
Its Californis Mission style architecture in the midst of North
West New Jersey effectively points out that it's something special.
|
||
| Johnny's Hot Dog | Buttzville, NJ | |
|
Actually its proper name is Hot Dog Johnnys ! As the name implies
, hot dogs are the specialty of the house and justly so. Served
usually with a frosted glass mug filled with either root beer
or whatever...its rustic locale beside a small river adds to
it American charm and mystique. It's not at all unusual in this
area to drive the 15 or 20 miles for a hot dog...but JUST here...nobody
elses dogs draw that kind of loyalty.

| Mattar's Restaurant & Catering | Allamuchy, NJ | |

A higher priced Italian restaurant which more than deserves
its high end reputation. Tuxedoed maire de's set the tone for
this unequalled journey intoItalian cuisine...not at all inexpensive
but more than worth the fare.

| Towne Crier | Hackettstown, NJ | |

A gem of a place right on Hackettstowns Main Street...reasonable
prices amidst a surprisingly varied menu...and for the economy
minded, they have a listing of specials currently listed at only
$7.95 available before 7:00PM which changes weekly and is far
better than it has to be ! Prompt service, and great food...all
along with an adjoining bar for something to wash down dinner.

After a few failures on this same site, the jinx of the location

right !!!Good food, reasonable pricing, pretty good service.
Hopefully the local public will give this place a chance to flourish...it
should !

| Hong Kong Palace | Hackettstown, NJ | |
|
If Chinese cuisine is for you...so is the Hong Kong Palace...presided
over by owner, Jeto, the food is great, atmosphere casual, and
overall a marvelous way to spend an evening. The menu is nicely
varied and soon they will be moving just next door to a much needed
larger facility...nothing succeeds like well deserved success. The
charm of Jeto is half of the fun.
