Unusual menu of California new cuisine. All excellent with outstanding
presentation.

| On the Border Mexican Cafe | Aliso Viejo, CA | |
|
Slightly different Mexican food in a rather noisy, but comfortable
atmosphere. A nice fire going and the food is a little above the
average. Service not the best, but worth a second try.

| The Beach House | Laguna Beach, CA | |
|
Still the best brunch, but worth a sunset. Dine while eating a
special priced sunset dinner and enjoy, enjoy enjoy. The most
magnificent view is worth the price alone.

| Surf & Sand Hotel | Laguna Beach, CA | |
|
The newly remodeled patio is a must for lunch. Plenty of shade,
and the most magnificent view. A rather limited and pricey menu
but all good. The sea breeze mixed with any food would be exceptional.
The Hotel dining room is always a reliable place to eat. Food is
good though not exceptional. Service is good, and a nice menu
to choose from. A nice place to relax and watch the sunset. A must
while in Laguna Beach.

| Sumo | Irvine, CA | |

A great place to eat if you LOVE Sushi. Outstanding buffet, with
a fantastic selection and you do not have to morgage your home
to pay for it. The cold salads are outstanding, hot dishes and
desserts excellent and enough variety for everyone, BUT SUSHI
and crab legs a MUST. Worth the price for just SUSHI.

| Natraj | Laguna Hills, CA | |
|
This restaurant in a strip mall has the best Indian food I have
ever eaten. They have an outstanding dinner menu, but the best
buy is a buffet lunch for $6.99 served daily. Each and every dish
is authentic, so this is for the true food connoiseur who knows
Indian food. Always has chicken tondoori with one other chicken
dish and various outstanding vegetable dishes. The atmosphere
is very soothing and clean, with excellent service. Not something
expected in this location but certainly worth the trip. Dinner
is from a menu, but each dish is outstanding. Luxurious eating
in a strip mall? Yes.

| La Cave Restaurant | Costa Mesa, CA | |
|
This fantastic steak house resides in a cave, yes you enter by
going down into the restaurant. The Restaurant is small, but
within these small quarters, you will find excellent service
and one of the best meals in town. A steak done to perfection, the
salad and dressing superb and the best garlic cheese bread ever.
This is not an inexpensive steak house, but it is a little more
reasonable than Morton, or Ruth Chris's and certainly as good
if not better. Very hard to get in on a weekend but worth the wait.
At times past when smoking was allowed I stopped going as this
was too filled with smoke to enjoy, but thanks to the new NO smoking
laws this makes this a Restaurant of first choice. A must to try.

| Gulliver's | Irvine, CA | |
|
For a prime rib specialist the times I have been here they have
committed an inexcusable sin of serving me meat that had been
re heated. This gives the meat a gamey taste that in my opinion
ruins any and all beef. The corn is excellent, the atmosphere
lovely, service is good, but when I want to eat Prime rib I expect
the best. This is too pricey to accept second best. I prefer The
Five Crowns or Lawry's. The Best of course if you care to fly, is
Simpsons On The Strand in London. When it comes to prime rib, I
know my meat. This is not it. Sorry!!

| Sam Woo Seafood Restaurant | Irvine, CA | |
|
This is a must for lunch and Dim Sum. The atmosphere is very pleasing,
with lovely fish tanks and table cloths and cleanliness. Dim
Sum is excellent, not as hot as I would like, but certainly authentic
to Chinese customers who seem to enjoy this Restaurant. The chinese
dishes are all excellent, and you can get many Cantonese dishes
here that have disappeared off most Chinese Restaurant menu's.
Service is not always the best, and most waiters have difficulty
understanding what you are saying. In spite of this, this is definitely
a place to try. Dim Sum and lunch is reasonable, dinner is more
and does not have Dim Sum, but is excellent. After the meal a wonderful
stroll is to the 99 Ranch market next door and to browse and walk
off the meal in a atmosphere like you are actually in China. The
fruits and vegetables are worth looking at and so is the entire
large market. In addition to Sam Woo's Restaurant they have a
take out Bar B Que with some excellent choices to take home. Duck,
Pork and so much more worth tasting. This is a wonderful eating
experience.

| Soup Exchange | Irvine, CA | |
|
Lots of mayonaise and lots of salads all tasting the same.
Not really that cheap and not really worth while. Soups are ordinary
as well as all the fixins. If you just want lots of any food good
or bad, this is your place

| Ruths Chris Steak House | Irvine, CA | |
|
This is a rather good well known steak House. Steak is served on
a sizzling platter that sizzles with butter (somewhat distracts
from the steak) Usually a good steak, very expensive. Excellent
service and nice comfortable atmosphere, considering this
sort of large strip mall look. If you have a lot of money and like
steak, this is the place. There are a few other choices in this
catagory worth trying, but this one will not dissapoint you.

| Chart House | Newport Beach, CA | |
|
A good steak House with a magnificent view. Excellent salad bar,
which boasts caviar and authentic caesar salad. Service is O.K
with young waiters that hide their lack of professionalism with
genuine friendliness. A nice place to sip your wine, watch the
sunset and slowly digest a huge salad and good steak. Everything
is very good but not outstanding. Certainly a place to bring guests
who have not seen the ocean before. Quite expensive but not dissapointing.

| Pascal | Newport Beach, CA | |
|
This Restaurant has been rated the top by so many books it is going
to be dificult for me to make you believe how ordinary it is. The
food that is supposed to be French, is more Californian style,
with the prices to match the best French Restaurant. Most dishes
are trying too hard to be original, and are not that tasty. This
is definitely not of the French Restaurants of Paris
even the newer ones that use less rich sauces are not of this style.
The atmosphere is trying to be elegant and the flowers do achieve
that look, however it is difficult to overcome the strip mall
look and style no matter what they do. Service is not the best as
the waitress I had really did not have a clue as to what she served
me or how or what was on it. My meal was a disaster and had to be sent
back because it was not what she thought it was, as she related
the dish to me. I have no idea how it tasted, but my second choice
was a disapointment. If wanting to "BE IN" this would be the Restaurant
of choice. If you are a conoisseur of good food, chose some place
else.

| The Tea House | San Juan Capistrano, CA | |
|
Located in the old historical area of San Juan Capistrano makes
this re modeled home an elegant choice for lunch and or afternoon
tea. The menu is quite diversified, and offers a few heartier
choices for a mans appetite. The cornish pasty is one of the many.
The tea, with assorted sandwich's are excellent, and offer a few varied choices and prices. All are authentically English and rank as high as afternoon teas at "The Ritz" The salads are excellent. Soup is always an unusually good one, and scones are great. Service a little amateur, but friendly, and the furnishings and rooms are outstanding. You can sit outside beneath umbrella's on a lovely balcony and watch as people walk by this lovely old historic street. A little pricey, but not an every day type of place. This is definitely a special occassion and worth the price and experience. |

| The Los Rios Cafe | San Juan Capistrano, CA | |
|
This is a small garden type Restaurant in the old Historic San
Juan Capistrano. The entire cafe is the garden, serving breakfast
and lunch under a huge overgrown tree and umbrella's. The food
is New Orleans style, and other very creative specialties. The
eggs, salads, and french toast is too unusual to describe. The
flavors are excellent and the menu changes weekly. A most unusual
place to eat with young friendly servers. Unusual menu. This
is certainly only for people wanting to explore new things. A
great way to start the day and to bring out of town guests.

| Taco Mesa | Mission Viejo, CA | |
|
This strip mall restaurant has probably some of the best Mexican
Food around. Breakfast or lunch, a fast self service not fancy
place with outstanding food of the best quality. Prices so cheap
you could eat here daily. Try the unusual drinks (non alcoholic)
with different fruits daily. This is a place to share with all
the family without dress up or anything fancy you can share in
a truly delightful meal. Portions are ample and help is very friendly.
Worth a try again and again.
