| Cafe Renaissance | Vienna, VA | |

Listed as a French restaurant in the phone book, but is seems that
it is having a bit of an identity crisis.
While the food was not bad, I found it to be more English in its styling.
I ordered a cut of meat which was somewhat overdone for medium
rare. The accompanying sauce was quite heavy and overpowered
the plate.
Nevertheless, the service was attentive. The setting, however,
was somewhat cramped as I was forced to sit next to a large picture
window which made me quite aware of every set of headlights that
passed by in the parking lot.

| The Inn At Little Washington | Washington, VA | |
|
I've been to the Inn on several occasions. I will rave about most
every item and even more so for the boudin blanc as a second course
choice. However, I once tried the pot-aux-feu and was somewhat
dissapointed by the rather effete manner in which this dish was
prepared. But, oh my, the rabbit made up for it on my next visit!
Go at least once in your life, but be psychologicially prepared
for the toll it will take on your wallet. And for Pete's sake, wear
something nice and leave the kids at home.

| Baja Fresh | Fairfax, VA | |
|
A refreshing change from all those other "pre-made" Mexican
restaurants.
If you are uncertain what to try on your first visit, get a fish
taco. Sound odd, I agree, but you will be delighted by the subtle
combination of fresh ingredients which envelope the breaded
strips of white fish.
This place gets crowded during lunch, so be prepared.

| Grotto Pizza | Bethany Beach, DE | |
|
Grotto's appears to be an institution which caters to the throngs
of tourists between Rehobeth and Ocean City. The one at Bethany
is no different. Plagued by an uncaring staff of high school kids
saving up their money for a used Camaro, the service is lacking.
The foods is typical pizza and pasta with bland tomato sauces.
The one at Bethany has a play area for the kids....always a bad
sign.

| Pasta Piatto | Pittsburgh, PA | |
|
Fresh pasta made with great variety and care. This is well-crafter
Italian food with covers the divieristy of the entire country.
I thought that the salads with lacking in substance in as much
as iceberg lettuce is the most common ingredient. That aside,
there is much to be savored at this wonderful place.
