| Straits Cafe | San Francisco, CA | |
|
With the same money you spend, I would suggest you visit Palo Alto
branch since decor & service is much better there than in SF. Indian
bread w/ curry sauce and blackpepper mussels are two of my favorite
starters. One also suggest if you like the flavor of their blackpepper
sauce, you can also try the crab with the same cooking method.
The roast duck is really good and the fish dishes are all tasty.
One must finish his/her meal with the excellent banana pudding
and mango cake or you are not getting the full experience.
As for drinks, I highly recommend singapore sling and mangopolitan. Blue lagoon will be nice for someone who don't like the taste of alcohol. |

| Boulevard | San Francisco, CA | |
|
I have to agree with SF Fruitfly.....this place is wonderful!
we were totally satisfied throughout the whole experience except
for the pricy check we got :p
I have to say they got excellent wine list even by the glass. We all had cocktails b4 meal and wines after. They have good selection of Europeon wines, esp. French :D Starters are very tasty. The mushroom soup we had was one of the best of all time. The oyster is just perfect with its sauce and our white wine. The main course were presented artfully, you almost don't want to eat it too soon....it's purely visual enjoyment! Desserts were not impressive. But the overall experience was great! I'll definately go back for the big event!...did I mention it's pricy?? |

| Asia SF | San Francisco, CA | |
|
Highly Recommend if you prefer small plate and free entertainment.
Service is friendly and the food is good. I'll say a bit pricy on
each entree consider the amount of food you get. However, in general,
this is a place that worth of going once or twice. Also, the place
has a small dancing floor in the basement, so it's a good place
to hang out w/ friends.

| Isobune Sushi | Burlingame, CA | |
|
The nigiris range from $1.70 - $3.00/plate, so an average cost
for a person will be $20+.
The best way to ensure that you get the freshest pieces is to ask sushi chefs to do a special order for you. The boats are attractive, but some pieces can sit there for hours. This is my brother's place for sushi. I would go to a traditional Japanese restaurant if I really want to have good sashimis. |

| Zachary's Chicago Pizza | Berkeley, CA | |
|
Nice pizza, esp. the specialities. However, the waiting time
is too long (seating, ordering etc.)Reservation is highly recommend.
I like its chicken deep dish a lot.

| House of Prime Rib | San Francisco, CA | |
|
At beginning, I thought this is a great restaurant for meat eater;
however, after few other experiences in places such as Morton's
& Ruth Chris, I should be honest by saying that the food is actually
'ok', so does the service.
The prime rib is pretty tender, but you can also enjoy the same quality at Kinkit or other steak houses. Salad, as other had mentioned, is disappointing. One should try the corn bread though, it is very tasty. Don't order dessert since the quality doesn't match with the value. |

| B44 | San Francisco, CA | |
|
This restaurant features the best paellas that I ever had. One
must try its B44 & Cazadora. Although both are paellas, they are
very different in taste.
B44 also has very tasty tapas at pretty fair price - everything is less than $8. Dishes recommend will be Fish cheeks sauteed with garlic, mussels, and Boquerones. Try its dessert & latte! You'll LOVE IT!! |

| The Cakery | Burlingame, CA | |
|
This is my best friend's favorite cake place; therefore, I ordered
a Teramisu on her birthday and it was great!! Beautiful decoration
with delicious taste! Can't say better for their chocolate products.
Most of the cakes are very decorative so the price is fair when
you compare it with downtown's prestige bakery store.
It is a must try for the Bay Area people. |

| Yakiniku House Juban | Burlingame, CA | |
|
Expect to pay $50 for an average adult if you want to have a nice,
complete meal with a beer or two, and dessert, of course. I won't
recommend trying its premium beef (the one that costs $40 for
12 thin slices of beef); instead, one should go with the set combo
with pickels, soups, rice and salads. That, to me is a very good
value (around $25 - $30). Great with Japanese Beer~

| El Quijote | Larkspur, CA | |
|
This restaurant locates in an unique building, like a factory.
The spanish cuisine is a very traditional one since the chef is
from Spain. This place also features Flamingo performance every
Friday & Saturday evening, reservation is always recommended.
Among all others, my favorite is the traditional paellas with huge tiger shirmps, mussels, clams and chickens. El Quijote also carries nice salad & dessert. Although price is a bit high but it's definately worth it. |

| Capellini | San Mateo, CA | |
|
Next time you visit there, make sure you make reservation, or
you should expect a wait time of 40 minutes or more. Try the capaccio
& fried calamari for appetizers. Their veal dish & creamy garlic
sauce in the Linguini & clams are my favorite dishes. Save some
room for dessert, they have pretty good choices.

| Higashi-West | Palo Alto, CA | |
|
One of the most creative restaurants I ever went. I'm still exploring
after my forth visit.
Dishes I recommend: higashi west roll for sure is the most unique one, yaki udon, oyster shooter, pork chop, palo alto roll, spider roll, and, don't forget the original sashimi if you are a fish lover. Save some space for its sake cream brulee, or chocolate tart, they are great! Don't go there if you want a traditional Japanese. For those who complaints, you should know it's not a traditional cause the name is ' Higashi (meaning east in Japanese) WEST!!!) |

| La Fondue | Saratoga, CA | |
|
Good things about the place:
1. Nice decor. 2. Nice fixed entree for two, I'm tired of man eats
more and woman order less kind of stuff. It's fairly equal in La
Fondu. 3. No time pressure. We stay there for 3+ hours and the staffs
did not bother us to leave (I don't know how late they are willing
to stay but we left at 12:30am). 4. Good selection of meat. 5. Nice
wine list, although we didn't order any. 6. Fun demo, they show
you want's in your fondu so you are not wondering about the ingredients.
Things need to improve: 1. Tough reservation. We were forced to seat at 9:30pm with no other choices. 2. Little bit expensive. 3. Long waiting period (nobody came to take order until we call on them). I will recommend this restaurant for the fondu first timer. It's definately worth your time & money to try. |

| Betelnut Pejiu Wu | San Francisco, CA | |
|
A bid expensive when you compare with the other Asian restaurant.
One goes there for the decor and atmosphere, not food. The drinks
are great! I love the house beer a lot! It's very nice for people
with little appetite. Will recommend if you are not too hungrey
and have mood to BS with your friends over couple of drinks.

| Ramen Club & Catering | Burlingame, CA | |
|
Lunch is great but dinner is a bit disappointing. It features
a small ramen with a bento box that you order. Each order has fairly
large quantity and/so can be split by two if you have small appetite.
Their ramen is definatly good and some people like the idea that
they have japanese magazines & comics on the rack so that customers
can read them when they are eating their food.
Good place for daily hunt! |
