| Penny's Noodle Shop | Chicago, IL | |
|
While I am not a big fan of most Oriental cooking, I found Penny's
to have a large selection to choose from and I found the taste to
be okay. My wife, a big affectionado of such cuisine assused me
that it was delicious! The service is good and the wait is not as
long as you might expect for the long lines waiting.

| Dick's Last Resort | Chicago, IL | |
|
Pricey, greasy, messy. . . but fun. If you go with a not very serious
attitude and cash to spend and a large group of like mind, you can
have a ball here. I would rate the food a 2, but for fun, it rates
much higher, perhaps a 4.

| Artists Restaurant | Chicago, IL | |
|
This was just a kind of cool place to go, especially after seeing
a show as part of the cast usually shows up here. The price is steep
for what you get, but everything in Chicago is.

| Zephyr Ice Cream Restaurant | Chicago, IL | |
|
This is a great restaurant! They offer a pretty wide selection
of dishes from steak and seafood to sandwiches and best of all,
desserts! The service is one of two extremes - either the worst
you have ever seen and just wonderful. Fortunately, it is usually
the latter.

| Ann Sather's Restaurant | Chicago, IL | |
|
This Swedish restaurant offers a nice selection of dishes. The
breakfasts are very tasty! Service is good and the restaurant
is clean. Can be tough to get to with not much parking nearby.

| Leona's Pizzeria | Chicago, IL | |
|
Choose something other than the pizza and you will be fine. The
other entrees are great. The wait, however, is usually excessive.
Sometimes it can get very loud in this crowded restaurant.

| Abbey Pub & Restaurant | Chicago, IL | |
|
Bring an ear for Irish brogue and a healthy appetite. The food
is delicious here (especially the fish n chips) but if your ear
isn't tuned to it, these 1st generation out of Irelanders can
be hard to understand!
|
||
| Thai Touch Restaurant | Chicago, IL | |
|
Offers a great selection of Thai dishes and most offer the more
traditional "really spicey" Thai way of cooking them or less
spicey. The service is great every time!
|
||
| Miss Mamies Catfish House | Moline, IL | |
|
I found this restaurant to be okay. It was not spectacular, but
the food and the service were both good. The serving size was acceptable
for the price and the selection was pretty large for a catfish
house.

| Checkers | Davenport, IA | |
|
As far as fast-food goes, Checkers is pretty good. The food is
fresh and the hamburgers juicy! The french fries have a slightly
spicey seasoning giving them a great taste. The milk shakes are
also suprisingly good for this type of restaurant. There is no
inside seating with only a few benches for patrons so this is best
for on the road or to take home. An excellent value when you catch
one of the specials!

| Outback Steakhouse | Davenport, IA | |
|
This is a great steak place. The food is excellent and huge! A nice
change from the baked potato is the sweet potato and Outback does
it right. They also serve a brown bread with the meal that is delicious.
The dining area can get loud at times when the area fills up but
it is worth it. Patrons come in evertyhing from semi-formal to
extremely casual. On weekends this can fill up quickly so be prepared
for a long wait.

| Ebbets Field | Springfield, MO | |
|
Ebbet's Field is a very nice little microbrewery. The cuisine
is somewhat limitied with a few pasta dishes and some burgers,
but the taste is great! The service was quick and friendly and
the atmosphere was very relaxed. There were patrons in suites
and dresses as well as jeans. This would be a great place to just
kick back and relax as well as to enjoy a casual meal.

| Panera Bread | Davenport, IA | |
|
If you are looking for bagels or bread, this is the place. They
have a wide variety of both. However, when it comes to meals . .
. The variety is much more limited to deli sandwiches and soups.
The soups, however, are great, expecially in the bread bowl.

| Faithful Pilot Cafe & Spirits | Le Claire, IA | |
|
The Faithful Pilot was a charming little restaurant. The fodd
was good but I felt the serving sizes were a little small for the
price. However, the bread they serve with the meal almost makes
up for it. This brown, crusty bread is delicious. The service
is pretty good and the quiet dining room is not very crowded although
it is almost always packed.

| R J Boar's | Bettendorf, IA | |
|
Bring your appetite to RJ Boars! They serve delicious BBQ. The
serving size looks substantial at first, but if it is not pulled
BBQ, there is a lot of bone in the ribs (duh!) and the work to get
to the BBQ is frustrating. But the food is very good and the service
is very friendly and prompt. And you get plenty of wet naps to help
you clean up!

| Duck City Delicatessen & Bstr | Davenport, IA | |
|
What a unique dining experience in the Quad Cities! From deli
during the day to cozy bistro at night, the atmosphere is sure
to please. The ala carte menu at dinner provides a lot of variety
and excellent portions. The desserts are worth planning ahead
for and don't forget about the after dinner drinks and cigars.
Definitely a dining experience not to be missed.

| Rosie's Little Italy | Marion, IN | |
|
A quite, red tableclothed, candle lit Italian restaurant with
a fine selection of Italian dishes. The veal parmagina is a delicious
sleeper dish.

| Whitey's | Bettendorf, IA | |
|
Whitey's is the place for ice cream. The have a selection to fit
most any one's taste - including a fat free/sugar free selection.
From shakes, to malts, to ice cream rolls there is something here
for everyone. The atmosphere is relaxed as there are only a few
chairs inside and few benches outside but the staff is serious
about getting you the best ice cream in the Quad Cities. The patrons
dress in everything from cut-offs and T-shirts to wedding dresses
and tuxes. Yes, it is true, my wife of only 30 minutes and myself
went to Whitey's still dressed in our full wedding attire. But
that's another review! The reputation of Whitey's even extends
to the White House. When 1st lady Hillary Clinton was looking
for a particular style of Peppermint ice cream to serve at a class
reunion, the White House came to Whitey's for it. Actually, they
didn't come. the called and they shipped it! And they will for
you too. Just call and you can have Whitey's ice cream delivered
in dry ice to your door!

| Quad City USA Family Rstrnt | Moline, IL | |
|
A great family restaurant! The service is always quick and friendly.
The menu runs from breakfast items to Greek, Italian, seafood
and American cuisine. The atmosphere is almost always rather
quite as it is predominately a local seniors establishment although
younger crowds are starting to discover this little jewel in
Moline.
