| K's Mrs Toll House Restaurant | Silver Spring, District of Columbia | |
|
A really nice little restaurant. It's in an old house-the atmosphere
is really cozy and romantic. The food is excellent and the service
is great. For those of you with kids-there's no kids menu and there
is a minimum charge. If they've got venison on the menu when you
go (they change menus seasonally) try it-it's really good.

Also listed as K's Mrs Toll House in this list (??). A romantic
little restaurant in an old house. The atmosphere is really cozy.
The food is excellent-try the venison if they've got it on the
menu when you go (the menu changes seasonally). For those of you
with kids-there's no kids menu and there is a minimum charge.

| Gazebo House of Pancakes | Williamsburg, VA | |
|
The best pancake house in the area. They have every flavor of pancake
you could imagine. Try the chocolate chip pancakes. They're
yummy! The bacon pancakes are good, too. There are lots of other
menu choices if you're not into pancakes. The service is great
(and fast), the food is great.

| Hershey's Chocolate Town Cafe | Hershey, PA | |
|
A nice place to sit down inside and get away from the amusement
park traffic. (It's outside the entrance to the park.) Most of
the restaurants in the park are outside seating, so you can cool
off here. The food's pretty good-standard tourist menu choices,
but tasty. The service isn't bad-try not to get seated near the
children's play area, though-it's kinda annoying when you're
trying to eat having to listen to a bunch of kids scream and carry
on. (Those of you that have kids will probably take exception
to that, but we don't have kids and don't want to listen to someone
elses misbehave.) The desserts are the best part of the menu.

| Gordon Biersch Brewery Rstrnt | Honolulu, HI | |
|
We're not beer drinkers, but we actually found beer that we like
here, so for those of you that are beer drinkers, that must mean
it's excellent (like everyone above has said). The entrees are
HUGE. We went with friends and they warned us just to order one
entree and share it-they were right. The portions are enormous
and the food tastes excellent. Outdoor seating has a nice view
and sometimes there's live music. Service was good, also. Try
the garlic french fries-yummy!

| Hong Kong Harbourview Seafood | Honolulu, HI | |
|
The service is horrible. There was a big wedding party there the
evening we went and everyone was obviously more interested in
serving them than us. It took entirely too long for the courses
of our dinner to arrive, then it took too long to get the bill, even.
And then they made it a point to catch us after we left the table
to tell us what 15% of the check (the tip) should have been. We then
explained to them that a tip isn't mandatory, a tip is based on
the quality of service, and we felt that the bad service we recieved
was only worth the $1 we left. Since they spent so much time on the
wedding party, we figured they oughta go chase them for a tip.

| Lobster & Crab House | Honolulu, HI | |
|
Japanese influenced foods, but there's something for everyone
and the service is really good. April ordered the lobster tail
and mahi mahi, which was good, but not great-the lobster wasn't
what we're used too, kind of bland (it was a spiny lobster-that
could be the reason) and the mahi mahi tasted too much like chicken,
probably overdone. David had steak and mahi mahi. Again, the
mahi mahi was overdone, but the steak wasn't bad.

| Surf Room | Honolulu, HI | |
|
At the Royal Hawaiian Hotel in Waikiki. Eating a gourmet dinner
outside while watching the surf roll up on the shore makes for
a great experience. We also tried them for lunch and it was just
as nice: Cobb salad was nicely done with avocado and blue cheese
dressing and Gazpacho cold soup was yummy. For another lunch,
rosemary rubbed chicken was great, as was the fried chow mein
with barbecue beef sticks. The service is great. Be sure to get
a Mai Tai-the Royal Hawaiian makes the best!

| Tanaka of Tokyo Restaurant | Honolulu, HI | |
|
Watch the chef prepare your meal right at your table on a grill.
The man that manages the place saw one of us eating with a fork and
made it a point to come over and teach us how to eat with chopsticks,
which we thought was really nice. On our second trip, the teriyaki
sirloin and also the shrimp and salmon were very good. It's a fun
place with good food at a great price. The service is really good.

| Top of Waikiki | Honolulu, HI | |
|
Enjoy fabulous fare at this revolving restaurant with a great
view of Waikiki. Great prices and every seat has a good view. On
our second visit, the filet neptune was scrumptious-a nice filet
mignon with 2 big lumps of dungeoness crabmeat-dungeoness crab
reminds us of lobster-it's kind of sweet. The pepper crusted
steak was also good-very tasty and spicy. The service is good.

| Bongos Cuban Cafe | Orlando, FL | |
|
Cuban food is great! We've been to Bongo's twice and loved it both
times. The skirt steak with garlic topping is really good. The
service is great and the drinks (especially the frozen ones)
are big and refreshing.

| Curley's Fries | Wildwood, NJ | |
|
The best fries on the boardwalk. They're cooked in peanut oil
and cut thick and ripply. There's always a line, but they serve
quick and hot. The fried dough is good, too.
|
||
| Two Mile Landing | Wildwood, NJ | |
|
A really nice seafood restaurant. Keep in mind that in season,
the wait can be quite long, but there's lots of places to sit outside
and wait-usually a waitress will come around and get you drinks
while you're waiting to be seated. The food is really good and
the service is good, too. The sauteed backfin crab is our favorite
entree-it's nothing but yummy crab and they give you alot.
|
||
| Urie's Waterfront Restaurant | Wildwood, NJ | |
|
A nice family seafood restaurant. The food is excellent and the
service is good. There is usually a wait, but there's a nice gift
shop and outdoor bar area where you can get a nice drink-try the
Helen of Troy, it'll knock you out!

| Pukalani Country Club Rstrnt | Makawao, HI | |
|
Don't let the name fool you-it's VERY casual here. The best description
for this place is-home cookin' Hawaiian style. 2 different menus-the
traditional menu comes with rice or fries and a vegetable and
includes shoyu marinated teriyaki steak, which was very tender
and yummy, and also local fried chicken-nicely crispy and juicy.
The Hawaiian menu has a nice island flair to it-all the entrees
(stuff like different meats cooked laulau (in a ti leaf)style
and other stuff and all entrees include poi, lomilomi salmon
and some other Hawaiian type sides. There is a salad bar for an
extra $3, too. There is no dessert menu, but all meals come with
complementary self serve soft ice cream. We really enjoyed this
experience-it was fun to go local!

| Picnics Restaurant | Paia, HI | |
|
If you're going to try the Road to Hana, this is the place to stop
for your picnic lunch. They give you a lot of stuff, nicely packed
for your trip. The picnic we got included a big sandwich, a half
of a roasted chicken, drinks, chips, fruit, and dessert. They
even give you a picnic tablecloth to spread out. The food is really
good and they get everything together pretty quick.

||
| Hecocks Italian Restaurant | Lahaina, HI | |
|
Tables all have a nice ocean view, but there's no nonsmoking section,
so if smoke really bothers you, don't eat here-they don't even
care if people smoke cigars (YUK!) However, the food was tasty.
The scallops in wine cream sauce were good. The scallops were
done just right. The only little thing was that the sauce could
have been reduced more-it was tasty but too thin. The mahi mahi
was also very good. Service was okay-it took a little too long
to get our dinners.

||
| Winds of Beamreach Restaurant | Princeville, HI | |
|
Very casual, with good food. The South Seas Pineapple Shrimp
was really good-shrimp sauteed with peapods & mushrooms in a
creamy pineapple sauce. The Hawaiian Steamed Red Snapper was
also good-it was cooked in a sort of vanilla sauce. Good service
and good prices, too.

||
| Princeville Hotel | Princeville, HI | |
|
Cafe Hanalei in the Princeville Hotel: Sit outside and enjoy
a beautiful view of Bali Hai while you eat. Lunch here was excellent-the
chicken with thai coconut curry sauce served with potatoes and
rice was fantastic and the ahi with cajun style guava mayonnaise
was very tasty. For a drink, try the Princeville Palace-it's
a hawaiian style mimosa. Yummy.

| Canoes At the Ilikai | Honolulu, HI | |
|
We use the Entertainment coupon book in Hawaii, so that's where
most of our choices come from-there are partial menus for the
restaurants in the book. We went in, sat down, looked at the menu
and left. The menu is nothing like the one listed in the book-most
of the stuff looked kind of yukky. There was an all you can eat buffet-we
took a look at it and it also looked yukky. This place has definitely
seen better days.
