This is a friendly neighborhood Chinese restaurant. They have
an extensive menu and will make anything you want if you don't
see it on the menu, or modify any dish to add or subtract ingredients.
The staff is friendly and efficient and will know you by food preference,
if not by name, on return visits.
It is neat, clean and showing it's age a bit. This place has been around for at least 20 years, but certainly worth going to. Parking is not great, but you can usually find a spot within the square block area. It sits on subway stop on the "A" line and there is a bus stop nearby. |

Too bad one can't award no stars, this restaurant doesn't deserve
even one. Went for their Wednesday buffet. The food was cold,
overcooked and stale. While seated, the wait staff universally
ignored us--we couldn't get even so much as a glass of water.

I love this place. Always good, always reasonably priced. I actually
wrote the above review, but it didn't get credited to me, so I'm
reviewing it again.

| Sakura Gardens | Howard Beach, NY | |
|
If you like Japanese food, this is a nice place to dine. Along the
format of Benihana, the food is cooked to order while you sit around
the grill. Fun for parties. What isn't Sushi is tasty, and I guess
if you are a Sushi fan, you will like that too. The decor is typical
ricepaper and black.

Ate here for a party, where they served a buffet. The grilled chicken
was tasty and the
sliced steak was tender, but I didn't like the marinade. They
have a nice outdoor patio and the
servers were friendly.

| Inn At Tannersville | Tannersville, PA | |
|
This place is rustic and friendly. The place has been around for
years. The food is about average for the area (good, but you won't
be writing home about it), but the portions are good and the staff
efficient.
There's a rollocking bar in front, which is always a great place
to hang out. You don't go here so much for the food as for the party.

| Prima Pasta | Brooklyn, NY | |
|
They certainly do have great pizza bread and garlic rolls. I don't
think they were attentive at keeping it filled, although I suppose
they would have refilled it if we asked. I didn't have the pasta,
but I had the veal marsala, which was tasty, but I've had better.
The appetizer of mozzarella & tomato was large enough to share,
however, I didn't think the tomatoes were ripe. I also prefer
to put my own balasamic and oil on, rather than have it sent from
the kitchen that way.
The place is clean, roomy and inviting. The staff was attentive and the food was served quickly. |

| Floridian Diner | Brooklyn, NY | |
|
As with any diner, the portions are large. The food is good with
a menu that includes no signature dishes. Like most diners it
is over-airconditioned in the summer, so make sure you bring
a jacket or you will freeze to death. The place is clean, bright
and laid out so it actually looks bigger than it is.

| Arturo's Italian Restaurant | Floral Park, NY | |
|
This is THE BEST Italian restaurant. The portions are generous,
the food is always good and the bar makes a Brandy Alexander to
die for. The staff is very attentive--go there twice (even years
apart) and they remember you forever. The place has a family feel
to it and you can tell that the patrons are loyal. Of course, it
wouldn't have atmosphere without the roaming musician. The
desserts are just excellent, from the cannolis to the tiramisu.
Full? don't worry, there's always the bowl of fresh fruit on the
table.

| Stella Ristorante | Floral Park, NY | |
|
This is a nice place with attentive staff and good food. Certainly
worth checking out if you are looking for fine Italian dining.
It's a little noisy for my liking, but it's roomy and clean.

This is a casual bar/restaurant. Clean and noisy. The ribs are
decent and the steaks are good.

| B K Sweeney's American Grill | Lynbrook, NY | |

Friendly staff, decent food. A little dark, but that goes with
the bar atmosphere.

| Kee-Wah-Yen | New York, NY | |
|
This is an excellent gourmet chinese restaurant. Good for business
lunches or an after work date. The dishes are expertly prepared,
pleasing to the eye and tasty. You must try the pork puffs, they
are an excellent appetizer. The kung-pao beef is excellent with
just the right touch of spice and tender beef. The decor is elegant
and the wait staff is very attentive. This is one of those places
where if they see your face twice, they khow you.

| Wo Hop Restaurant | New York, NY | |
|
The basement is the only place to go for this restaurant. This
is a very noisy, fun place. Like typical family style Chinatown
restaurants, you play musical chairs when it gets crowded. If
your table is not full, you get to dine with strangers and make
new friends. Order one dish at a time and share, then order the
next round. The place could be a little cleaner, but they do their
best with the amount of traffic they get.

| Stardust Diner | New York, NY | |
|
This place is kitchsy, a restaurant with a theme. The decor and
costumes are 1940's memorabilia. The food is home cookin' and
is tasty. The portions were good, the staff excellent. A great
place to bring kids, or to go for a before theatre lunch. Pricing
is reasonable enough for family dining.
We New Yorkers tend to be blase about theme restaurants in general,
but out of towners like it here.

| Cracker Barrel | Hamburg, PA | |

Stopped here while traveling. Stopped once going and liked it
so much, stopped again going back. Good home cooking hits the
spot when you are traveling and for little more than the cost of
fast food, you can relax.
This place is clean, friendly, inexpensive and the food is excellent. Although crowded on both visits, there was no long wait to be seated. The food was served fast and by the most pleasant of servers. You would have to see the size of the portions to believe them, but here's a hint: if you are ordering the pancakes and you have multiple members in your party, share! Although if your eyes are bigger than your stomach, they give you sturdy containers to take the leftovers with you--and believe me, you won't want to leave them. Try the chicken & dumplins or the roast beef, and definitely get the onion rings. Since this is a "country store" in addition to a restaurant, you can buy old fashioned candy and all sorts of Americana--just try to leave without buying something. |

| Waterview Diner-Restaurant | Howard Beach, NY | |
|
Good food, big portions, large menu variety and friendly service.
Like most diners,
always too cold in the summer, but worth going to any time.
|
||
| Seaview Diner | Brooklyn, NY | |
|
This place has been around for what seems like forever. Always
clean,
the food is good and the service so friendly, that if the waitperson
doesn't like what you are ordering, will warn you against it.
Extremely
large portions--sharing is recommended.

| Peter Luger Steak House | Brooklyn, NY | |
|
I'm in the minority, I know, but I think this place is vastly overrated.
The steaks I had on two widely separated visits were only mediocre
at best and the potatoes were burnt.
The fact that they herd you in like cattle at the bar to wait for
a "seating" is really sick--and I don't understand why people
are willing to pay these prices for the privilege.
They make no special accomodations for the handicapped, so if
you get stuck dining upstairs, tough luck. There are many better
places to get steaks where they actually treat you like humans.

| Millard Fillmore's Restaurant | Staten Island, NY | |
|
This place has steaks to rival the best steakhouses. Always cooked
to perfection. The drinks are generous and not watered down.
The serving staff is efficient. They will even have a movie ticket
runner who will buy movie tickets for you if you plan to catch a
movie at the theater next door after dinner.
