| Zuni Cafe | San Francisco, CA | |

No wonder it's in the tourist books. It's a total rip-off. That
just about says it all. If you want to waste your money, be
sure to go to Zuni.

| Gaylord India Restaurant | San Francisco, CA | |

I can describe this restaurant in a few words: over-priced
and poorly prepared food that might as well be dipped up from
a steam table.

| Granada Cafe | San Francisco, CA | |

Ho-Hum is about the best that can be said about this place.
Even that is stretching it by a lot.

| Tyger's Coffee Shop | San Francisco, CA | |
|
Standard fare. Inflated prices. It's convenient if you're on the
way to Glen Park BART on the way to work. That's about the best
that can be said for it. It's closer to a rating of 1 than 2,
but doesn't quite make a 1.

| Fisherman Restaurant | Burlingame, CA | |
|
When they reopened a couple of years ago, after a fire, it was very
good. Alas, it went downhill very quickly. A very small example is
that when it reopened it served pesto and good olive oil with the
bread. Suddenly the pesto disappeared and the quality of the olive
oil declined. On a more substantial basis, the really nice
luncheon salads they began with disappeared and were replaced with
some insipid substitutions. The rest of the menu followed suit
quickly. All in all it began well, but it's not worth a trip unless
you happen to be driving by and drop in. It's too bad, because it
had such potential. As for parking, why is valet parking the only
option?

Ho Hum on this place. It's not worth a trip.

| Gulliver's | Burlingame, CA | |

The idea seems to be to try to transport diners back to "Merrye
Olde England." It doesn't work, in spite of the decor and the
"buxom serving wenches." One thing they seem to relish in is their
creamed spinach. Unfortunately, it tastes as if it came from
a can. It's probably a good change of pace within close walking
distance for the folks staying at the hotel across the street.
Beyond that, it is not worth a visit.

I stopped on a business trip in the area. Never again.
Perhaps is it not quite "awful," but very close to that.

| Hawthorne Lane | San Francisco, CA | |

This place is definitely great! It is tucked away on a
small street that anyone might just pass right by. It is
well worth looking finding. I won't elaborate on the
previous reviews. I'll just recommend the place highly.

| New Delhi Restaurant | San Francisco, CA | |
|
This restaurant can be described in one word -- "mediocre." The
evening meal is tolerable at best. At lunch they have
a very poor buffet. If you ask to order from the menu at lunch,
they "will have to ask the kitchen if it can be done." If
they had more options, I would be there often.

| Bangkok Best | San Francisco, CA | |
|
The food here has to be some of the absolute worst Thai
food in San Francisco. I have tried it three times to
make sure they weren't just having an off-day.
It's always crowded at lunch, but what restaurant
isn't in the financial district at noon? You're much
better off picking up a slice of pizza a few steps
away, going to one of the nearby Chinese fast food
spots, or even the Burger King up the street.

| Shalimar Restaurant | San Francisco, CA | |
|
This is one of those neighborhood places you will
probably never see written about in a newspaper or
other place. It is small, very inexpensive, and I
believe it is totally authentic. The place always
has many Pakistani and Indian people in it. The food
is excellent! Everything is a la carte and totally
self service. You pick up your own tableware and even
pour your own water from one of the pitchers in the
fridge. You don't have to bus your table though. If
you, like I, enjoy very good inexpensive food in a
plain atmosphere this is your place. Enjoy!!

It's not what it was, but then neither is Union
Street in general. 'Nuff said.

| Bill's Place | San Francisco, CA | |

It was good. What happened? It has gone to mediocre. That is very sad.

| House of Prime Rib | San Francisco, CA | |
|
If you like it overpriced -- this is the place for you.
|
||
| Fishermen's Grotto | San Francisco, CA | |
|
It draws the out of town visitors at highly inflated prices for
mediocre food.
What more could we ask for?

||
| Tubtim Thai Cuisine | San Francisco, CA | |
|
I tried it based on some of the earlier reviews.
About the best comment I can make is that I'll
never go back. I like very spicy/flavorful food, and
always ask for extra "flavor." This was BLAND! Had I not
asked for extra spicy and flavorful I shudder to think what
I would have been served. It's a good place to avoid.

| Powell's Place | San Francisco, CA | |
|
This may well be the best southern home-style
restaurant in San Francisco. It makes no pretenses
about being fancy in any way. But, the food is just
like that I remember growing up eating. Basic, no
frills things like fried chicken, fried catfish, liver
and onions, and the list goes on. The mashed potatoes
even come with greasy gravy -- wonderful! And to
top it all off the green beans are canned -- just like back
home. The portions are very large, so make sure you
are hungry. The pies are delicious, if you aren't too
stuffed to eat some. Remembr to expect basic, no
frills good food in a basic, no frills environment.

| Harris' Restaurant | San Francisco, CA | |
|
The decor, service, and food are all top notch. The
beef is excellent, but how could it not be given the
ranch from which it comes? The service is very
attentive and prompt without being intrusive. The decor
and lighting are done in very good taste.
Mrs. Harris is a gracious hostess and does not even hint that
it is her restaurant. I had been there many times before someone
told me.

| Old Krakow | San Francisco, CA | |
|
I like this kind of hearty food now and then, so I
certainly cannot downgrade the place itself. For the
kind of food they serve, they are EXCELLENT! For example,
the pierogi were wonderful. Heavy? Of course, but I have
had much heavier pierogi. In short, I recommend this place.
