| Palomino | Pittsburgh, PA | |
|
This restaurant is superb! The atmosphere is very upbeat and
the service impeccable. Not to mention the excellent menu and
quality of the food. The Palomino has definitely got my vote as
the best new restaurant in the Pittsburgh area. If you plan on
dining here on a Friday or Saturday night it is in your best interest
to make reservations a couple days in advance. The place fills
up quick. Do try it, you won't be sorry you did.

| Historic Market House Grill | Martinsburg, WV | |
|
I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food at this
restaurant. I wouldn't have expected such a place in Martinsburg,
but here it is. I've been here twice. The first time, my husband
and I ordered New York Strip steaks. The steaks were good BUT they
had a bone in them which NY strips never do. A faux pas! But the meat
was tender and cooked to order properly. The salad with the Greek
dressing was lovely.
The second time, my husband had a cajun dish and said it was wonderful. I had a nice fresh fish with lemon and it too, was cooked properly. A little too much salt perhaps. Most desserts are not homemade at this restaurant but one on the daily menu was (I forget what it was) and we split it. Very nice. I'd still rather go toward Wash DC for meals but in a pinch, this is a pretty good bet. |

| Skyview | Leavenworth, KS | |
|
Very good food, though a tad pricy. Extremely fancy setting in
a victorion type mansion. Some people dress up to eat there, and
others go casually dressed. I reccommend the heavenly shrimp
scampi (truly the best I've ever had) or the spicy Santa Fe Chicken,
baked with a cayenne pepper sauce/powder. The restaurant also
serves salmon, blue cheese chicken rolls, fillets, steaks,
lobster, fried shrimp, cran-chops, pork medallions, and tuna.
For appetizers, there are shrimp cocktails, cracker/fruit
plates, baked crab and shrimp, and delicious soups. Also, I recommend
trying dessert, which changes with the weeks as does the soup.
They serve desserts such as peppermint, lemon, and cinnamon
ice creams, apple tarts, brownie-fudge sundaes, cheese cake
(sometimes it's keylime), carrot cake, flaun, bread pudding,
chocolate cake, and a delicious raspberry dessert. They also
have an excellent selection of choice wines and drinks. It's
really good, I highly recommend trying it.

| Mudville Grille | Jacksonville, FL | |

This place is really great. The atmosphere is wonderful for kids.
It's a sports bar with a family environment. Great burgers, wings.
Wednesday is kibbee day for the Middle Easterners - GREAT! Ask
for "Mudville Rose".

| Asian Garden Restaurant | Reno, NV | |
|
This former Sambo's Restaurant seems to be an unlikely candidate
for some of the best chinese food in the area. Asian Crispy Chicken
is the best! Lunch Specials are well worth the money. Parking
is slightly inconvenient but the comfortable friendly service
makes up for it.
When you think Chinese food there is no reason NOT to think Asian Garden Restaurant. |

| Pho 777 Vietnamese Noodle Restaurant | Reno, NV | |
|
As is the trend with many "affordably" priced establishments.
Pho 777 has a "no check no credit card" cash only policy. This is
only an incovenience if you haven't been forwarned and now you
have. This is a small place with big rewards. It is very refreshing
to get authentic food without paying a small fortune. One of the
tests of any Asian restaurant is the quality of the meat/gristle
pass/fail test. PHO 777 passed. A very good place for a very good
meal.

| Longhorn Steakhouse | Brandon, FL | |
|
This restaurant's food and service is exceptional. The filet
is the best around, and their ribs are out of this world - better
than at any barbeque place I've ever been. The restaurant has
a casual atmosphere and has a nice full service bar. If you love
steaks, this is the place for you. The prices are reasonable and
the food is excellent!

| Old Country Buffet | Waldorf, MD | |
|
A very good place to eat. Selection off the buffet is varied through
out the week. With at least 2 types of carved meat, chicken, and
fish. A good salad bar compliments the meal. Sat. and Sun. there
is usually a line for dinner, but the longest I have waited was
about 15 minutes from entering to seating.

| Waffle House | Antioch, TN | |
|
This may very well be the best restaurant ever. This Waffle House(and
the chain in general) is great. The food is awsome and very cheap.
All orders are made in a few minutes after your order and you can
even observe the cook preparing your meal. Although almost anything
served here will most likely lead to a heart attack, the taste
is just too hard to resist. The only drawback i can think of is the
lack of appetizing meals for vegetarians.

| Maple Grove Inn | Knoxville, TN | |
|
The Maple Grove Inn is a bed and breakfast type place that was built
in 1799. We found it almost by accident. A simple hanging sign
is the only indication of its existence, as the narrow lane leading
to it is nestled between a church and a cemetary. Ancient trees
line the drive that leads to this exceptional discovery.
We were warmly welcomed as we stepped across the threshold and back in time. The hostess was extremely accomodating and offered a tour after we finished our meal, as she promptly led us to our table. The wait staff met every need without prompting. You have your choice of 4 meals and we both choose the bacon wrapped filet. We both chose the field green salad, although the champange soup did sound wonderful. The oriental vinagrette had an excellent thai peanut sauce flavor. The filet arrived shortly thereafter with a fan of asparagus and a healthy portion of "sticky rice". The filet was cooked to perfection and melted in our mouths. The sticky rice was a delight but the asparagus was a touch firm for my tastes. The desert was a "sweetheart" cake w/ raspberry sauce that just ruined my wife for the weekend! If you are looking for something special and memorable, this is the place! If you really want to make it an event, book the master suite ($250 a night, but DAMN! you just have to see the suite!). |

| The Beef House | Grenada, MS | |
|
This is by far the poorest excuse for a restaurant I have ever encounted!
The service is lacking greatly! If, you see a waitress again,
it will be between one to two hours after you order! You think after
the long cooking time, you would be able to get a nice well-done
steak. Not likely! You'll be lucky if the steak doesn't moo back
at you. Since, you cannot find your waitress, it' either like
it or lump it! And if you think you'll get out of there without rewarding
that great talent, don't be so sure. The waitress will add in her
tip at her own free will. Usually aroung 20 to 25%. If you think
that's bad, wait until you talk to the lady in charge.

| Ats-A-Nice Pizza | Romeoville, IL | |
|
Not just "delicious" pizza, but an endless selection of pasta's
offered with a wide variety of authentic sauces. Also available
are plenty of appetizers to get you started, fresh salads and
loads of "hearty" sandwiches. Accompany your meal with a soft
drink, "ice cold" beer or wine (by the glass or bottle.) Be sure
to save room for some "awesome" dessert! Prices are right and
portions are generous. "Kid friendly" so bring the family. Carry
out, delivery and catering is also available.

| Everyday People Cafe | Douglas, MI | |
|
Comfortable dining with emphasis on excellent food and service. Well stocked bar with an interesting wine list. A smoke-free restaurant that does not accept reservations. Open year-round, extremely busy July-September. Breakfast and lunch offerings are in the $5-$10 dollar range. All meals are great values. |

| Nob Hill Bar and Grill | Portland, OR | |
|
The "Nobby Burger" won CitiSearch's "Best Burger" award. It's
a meal in it's self. An assortment of
great burgers, daily specials, and "must have" home-made soups.
Nice atmosphere. Beer and wine. Minors are
allowed until 3pm.

| Bonanza Steakhouse | Frackville, PA | |

it has an all you can eat buffet, you can get anything grilled and
including cold stuff

| Silver Coach | Stevens Point, WI | |
|
Cajun, seafood and other eclectic choices, all well done and
served in a remodeled railroad car. Ask for one of the small rooms,
which make it seem like a catered affair.

| Cafe Pesto | Kamuela, HI | |
|
There comes a time when on a Hawaiian vacation when you want some
good old New York style Italian food instead of the inevitable
fish. This isn't the place to get it. The food, though not bad,
didn't really fill the bill to end the craving. They serve pasta
with marinara sauce and do have sausage available but you can't
get meatballs for Gods sake. The pizzas are only fair; thick crust
around the edges with a lame tomato sauce and cheese and toppings
if you dare. The wait staff did try very hard to please; was polite
and patient. A lot of people must like it as it was just about full.

| The Rainbow House | Myrtle Beach, SC | |

This is a very nice gay bar. Homecooked food - a terrific lunch
spot or for Sunday brunch. DJ and a dance floor for the nightlife.

| Malibu Grill | Bloomington, IN | |
|
Casual, California style best describes this appealing downtown
restaurant. The Malibu Grill features cuisine inspired by some
of the country's finest chefs, including Wolfgang Puck. You
won't find a better menu mix: handcut steaks, fresh seafood,
unique pastas, super salads and specialty sandwiches. Holding
claim to Bloomington's only wood fired oven. The Malibu Grill
also offers gourmet pizzas, calzones and roasted chicken. A
great wine list accompanies the full service bar.
The Malibu Grill gets packed, so don't miss your chance to sample
some of the incredible appetizers (check out the spinach artichoke
dip) while you wait. It will be well worth it! Enjoy a cold frosty
while listening to a little jazz on the piano or have a seat outside
under an umbrella on the patio. It's the best and you wont go wrong
here.

| Eastern Winds Chinese Restaurant | Fremont, CA | |
|
At Eastern Winds, you'll find a tiny place the size of your spare
room, with fluorescent lighting. In other words, order take-out
here, unless you don't require atmosphere. The dishes are average
in taste. We had General chicken and Sesame chicken; the sauce
was the same for both. The egg rolls are not recommended. Nevertheless,
all dishes were hot and the portions were generous.
