| Cap City Diner | Columbus, OH | |
|
Well, this is another Cameron Mitchell restaurant, and you would
imagine that it would be pretty good. Well, it is... but I'm not
sure why he decided to go this way. This place is set up like your
average diner, down to the menu, but the prices are steep. The
food is not much different than what you would expect at any diner
nationwide but the decor is way classed up and the bar is well stocked.
How many diners have you ever been to where you can get Guinness
on tap? Service is exquisite and food is tasty.

| Frezno Eclectic Kitchen | Columbus, OH | |
|
Frezno is classic California cuisine and atmosphere. Minimalist
but sparkling decor, low tables, wide open space, and awesome
service. Their menu is, indeed, eclectic... they have a wide
selection from sushi to pasta to steak to sandwiches. Everything
I've tried here was expertly prepared and aesthetically arranged,
well done!

| Lemongrass | Columbus, OH | |
|
Lemongrass has an interesting concept going -- gourmet modified
Chinese. They blend traditional Asian cooking with just about
anything... French cuisine, American, Italian... Makes for
some truly interesting dishes. Try the Italian Chow Mein for
something truly special.

| Chipotle Mexican Grill | Columbus, OH | |
|
Chipotle is unreal. For Mexican food, this place is great. I am
a big fan of the burrito, especially the enormous kind -- Chipotle
is the master. They start with great, unique staples , not the
average, like lemon-cilantro rice or fresh black bean & corn
salsa, mix them all together and you have an amazing thing. Be
hungry if you're going for a burrito, or ready to take some home.
They reheat well. Ask for extra sour cream and you'll really get
it. I've tried Chipotle in Chicago, too -- they should be about
ready to take over the world. Best Burritos in the world.

| Talitas Mexican Restaurant | Columbus, OH | |
|
whoo-boy! you want some bad mexican food, this is the place for
you! Beer is cheap and flowin', which is good if you are going to
eat here. I even had a friend who worked here, she said to stay away.
Nasty kitchen, nasty cooks, nasty food.

| Number One Chinese Restaurant | Columbus, OH | |
|
good fast chinese food! the general tso's chicken is my favorite,
but others are good too. slightly sticky tables, but good atmosphere.
close to campus, cheap.

| W G Grinders | Columbus, OH | |
|
great subs, though they are pretty expensive for the size. fresh
baked bread and quality ingredients make their rueben my favorite
in town. for some weird reason, they claim to have closed off the
rear portion of the dining room...probably so the homeless don't
hang out there. seats are limited but frankly, i've never seen
this place crowded. try it anyway, it's good.

| Whole World Pizza & Bakery | Columbus, OH | |
|
this must be, like, the cool hippie place to eat. they have great
food and good prices, as well as a large vegetarian/vegan selection,
but if i want to smell overpowering B.O. and patchouly I'll go
to a Phish show. Their bread is great for carryout, but I am done
eating in.

||
| Siam Oriental Restaurant | Columbus, OH | |
|
am i going to rip on this place? Yes, Siam. Their portions are small,
prices are high, and their red sauce is ludicrously watery. I
feed my kitties more flavorful stuff. And don't even bother asking
for it "xtra spicy", because they can only decipher what you want
if you point to the menu.

| Cluck-U-Chicken | Columbus, OH | |
|
whoo-boy! if you are looking for a chicken sandwich on OSU campus,
this is the only place to go. They are open til 4AM on weekends,
have great wings too. Their selection is large and they even deliver.
Of course, there was that article in the OSU paper a few months
ago about the girl who filed a complaint with the health dept because
they sent her a label on her food that said, "spit on this girl's
food" but I guess I've never made them mad. Try not to -- their food
is good.

| Flavors of India | Columbus, OH | |
|
This is likely the worst Indian restaurant in Columbus, but it's
still Indian so I still eat there. Their prices are good, especially
compare to an Indian restaurant on N High which shall remain nameless.
Curry can be ordered regular, spicy, or extra spicy. I am a big
fan of hot stuff, so i tried the extra spicy the first time ... big
mistake. they're not joking... Spicy is just right, has a good
curry taste but you can tell (only a little) that you're only spending
$20 on dinner for two instead of $60. Overall, a good bet.

| Panini's Bar & Grill | Columbus, OH | |
|
Wow, this place has food? Just kidding.. though Panini's is first
and foremost a bar, they do have a window out onto the street where
you can order subs, hot and meaty. Same for the patrons... If you
are looking for a drunk sorority girl to take home, try here first.
VERY nice patio (corner of 15th and High -- right across from OSU
main gateway), kids love it during the summer

| Rax Restaurant | Columbus, OH | |
|
well, i hate to be picky, but... I remember when I was a kid (way
back in the early 80's) I loved Rax...I would get SO charged when
my mom would take me there for lunch. Only special occasions,
when I wasn't in school (doctor's appts and whatnot), so maybe
this is where I got the positive association. They had this killer
lunch buffet-type deal where you could make your own bean burritos...mmmm.
Well, I took my girlfriend to this Rax, hoping to relive some good
memories, but all I got was yelling for bringing her there. This
place is downright SCUMMY. The people, the kitchen, the parking
lot, the whole shebang. The food was nothing to write home (or
to some website) about, mostly because the salad bar w/burritos
is gone, but I was unable to enjoy it because of the verbal abuse
heaped upon my ability to choose a restaurant. Only take toothless
freaks here on dates.

| Wexner Center Cafe | Columbus, OH | |
|
You know, believe it or not, I like eating at this place. The food
is nothing too exciting, typical American fare, but it comes
on an actual China plate. How often do you get to eat off of real
China when you work 50 hrs a week and go to school full time? Staff
makes me feel pampered and at home, a welcome break from the hectic
outside.

| Barley's Brewing Co | Columbus, OH | |
|
Well, to put this in the category "Bar, chicken" is unfair. Not
only does Barley's have the best microbrewed beer around, they
know what they are doing in the kitchen too. They brew most of their
beers on-premises, and they'll give you the tour if you ask nice.
I am proud to say that I have tried all of their beers, and I highly
recommend the Russian Imperial Stout (yes, as good as it sounds)
and the Scottish Ale. Their meatloaf is bountiful and tastelicious,
and for something a little weird, try their Sauerkraut balls.
Trust me. Have a few of the home-brews first, it'll make it easier
to bring yourself to order them.

| Easy Street Cafe | Columbus, OH | |
|
great reubens, great caesar salads. Service is usually good,
but sometimes (as with most places) it sucks really bad. Parking
usually a problem, ambiance relaxed, comfortable and great.
Quality beers on tap, for reasonable prices.
|
||
| Mac's Cafe | Columbus, OH | |
|
Mac's has wonderful scottish food. Yes, I did use "wonderful"
and "scottish food" in the same sentence, on purpose. Also tolerable
to good typical American cuisine. What makes this place special
is the ambiance, decor, and bar, and of course location location
location. Heart of Short North, store and galleries galore.

||
| Strada World Cuisine | Columbus, OH | |
|
Can't get better for a date restaurant. Food is excellent and
pleasingly presented. Ambiance is super-classy, live jazz
on the weekends. Service is almost as exquisite as the food. I
even saw a midget in a tux at the bar here once, I swear.
|
||
| Rax Restaurant | Columbus, OH | |
|
oooooo... don't go here. Dirty, substandard food and service.
I'm sure they'll be closed soon, if not already.

||
| Hoggy's Bar & Grille | Columbus, OH | |
|
Truly, a terrible name for a restaurant, but if you want big meaty
bar-b-q, this is the place to go.. Casual atmosphere, beer on
tap, great food and selection (though it IS all pork...) Good
for kicking back with friends, drinking a few cold ones, and chowing
down on some greasy pig. Mmmmmmmmm.
