Cinnamon Morris Plains, NJ
One of the best Indian restaurants in the Morris County area, if not northern NJ. Cinnamon offers generous portions of delicious food served by a staff of truly cares about the experience. As soon as your water or beverage is half empty, they will swoop right it and fill it up. Their variety of vegetarian and meat dishes is huge and it is all done just as good as the others. They can make your food mild of flaming hot and all done at your request and with just as much flavor. The chefs here are some of the best in the area and all their food is delicious. I could spend hours detailing every dish here, but their vindaloo, makhani, tikka masala, dal, and other curries and etc are all individually delightful and you can come back every night and try something new and delicious. Their desserts are delicious too and affordable. I even got the dessert on the house when my father mentioned my birthday. They also remember their regulars and treat them special! My friends and I are known to get free appetizers whenever we go there because they know we love their food! Recommend it to everyone, especially if you love Indian food like I do.
Jose Tejas Fairfield, NJ
Now this is one of the best Tex-Mex places in Jersey. Be warned though, this place gets VERY crowded! However, the staff works fast and are very professional. In my opinion, their best appetizer is their bowl of gumbo. It is spicy and full of rich flavor. It's thick and savory and is my personal favorite. Their menu varies from Tex-Mex, Cajun, Creole. Their seafood is not exactly their strongpoint unless it's blackened, but it is still good. Ideally, their pork and chicken are their best dishes. Savory and well grilled. It is very well seasoned although on occasion it can be over-salted. Though I would say that it is generally seasoned just right. Their menu is expansive and even allows kids and vegetarians to get delicious food as well! The only reason this restaurant doesn't have five stars is their lack of dessert. I really think they could profit from adding some Tex-Mex desserts or of the like. At the end of the day it comes down to their delicious, hearty and cheap food! Recommend to all who love rich spicy food and those who wish to try!
Chili Willie's Boonton, NJ
Located right on Main Street. C.W. stands as the lone Tex-Mex place on Main Street. It also stands as one of the few restaurants on Main street. Before I get started, I would like to say that the entree range is more around 8-12 dollars rather than the other options I had available. I've been to the restaurant about four times and would have to say that the food is quite good. Ideally, I would rate this restaurant at a 3.7, but I rounded off to four. This is a small restaurant and recommend you don't bring more than four people unless you know that you have room as there's only about 10 tables and not much room. When you arrive, you are greeted by a bowl of tortilla chips and salsa. This salsa is honestly the worst part of my visit every time. I love salsa and have tried many as well as making my own. Frankly, this is a terribly bland salsa that just tastes like a watery tomato. It lacks in spice and kick and leaves much to be desired. However, their entrees are nearly all generously portioned and affordable. My personal favorite is their BBQ specials which involve BBQ pulled pork, chicken and etc. The pulled pork stands out the most in my opinion. It's tangy and sweet and has a smoky kick to it. It's savory and not dried. This is definitely not for those who like tough BBQ. Their chicken is well grilled and my only complain is that the food could have some more flavor and kick. One on occasion it tasted as if the chicken was barely marinaded. The rice is very flavorful and my personal favorite. Not very spicy, but packs a good sweet and filling sensation in the mouth. Their pico de gallo and beans don't seem very seasoned, but if you're a purist you won't mind. The dessert is where this place really shines. Whoever makes the desserts needs a medal because they are beautifully crafted, fresh, and full of rich taste. Their churros and flan are the best desserts. Rich in taste and the texture is just right. The churro is a little pricey for the portion, but the taste makes up for it. The flan is a good portion and fantastically made. Overall, C.W. stands as a good family place for the diner who enjoys casual Tex-Mex. The joint lacks in spice so fans of spicy Tex-Mex might not be satisfied. however, the food is affordable with good portions and fantastic taste. It's one of the best restaurants in the area and is delicious. I will return as usual and recommend it to you all.
