| Frank's Roman Pizza | Asheville, NC | |
We ordered a pizza for delivery from Frank's (1/2 mushroom 1/2 pineapple) and it looked excellent! However, the taste wasn't all there. There was a lack of flavor in the crust of the pizza as well as the garlic bread loaf we ordered. All of it tasted very bland. The mushrooms on the pizza appeared to have been of the canned variety and there were far too many. It was hard to eat. I will try them again before I say that there food isn't any good, but my first impression was so.

| Papa's and Beer | Asheville, NC | |
Affordable GOOD Mexican food! I have eaten at the Tunnel Rd location many times, and have also eaten at the Hendersonville Rd location once after passing it and saying "Hey! Another Papa's!" I prefer the Hendersonville Rd location due to the fact that it isn't near as busy (you can expect to wait 20 minutes + to be seated in the evening at Papa's and beer on Tunnel Rd.) Both locations are great, the one on Tunnel Rd is much closer for my husband and I therefore we frequent it more often. The food- Since eating at Papa's & Beer, I have had their vegetarian tamales, spicy green enchiladas, Papa's bean burrito, burrito organico, vegetarian tortilla soup, vegetarian burrito, grilled potato tacos, vegetarian chimichanga, and vegetarian enchiladas. Obviously there are many vegetarian options! I appreciate that greatly. All of the food has been yummy and as close to authentic Mexican cuisine as you can get this far away from Mexico and/or California. The ambience- I do like the ambience of Papa's and Beer. The decor of course is Mexican, is very colorful and bright, clean and simple. Seating is table and booth, they also have an covered outdoor sitting area and an extensive bar setup. The service- Papa's and Beer has quick, efficient service. We have eaten at this restaurant more than a handful of times and our order has always been right. The waiters and waitresses are quick to fill up your drinks and your chip basket< free chips/salsa is a must for any GOOD Mexican restaurant! Favorite Entree- Burrito Organico Least Favorite- N/A Favorite thing about restaurant- Salsa bar! Diverse selections including two different kinds of pumpkin salsa! I also love that there are so many vegetarian options on the menu- That is what keeps me coming back for more! Least favorite thing about restaurant- The wait. The wait is usually long, anywhere from 20-45 minutes around 5-7pm.

| India Garden | Asheville, NC | |
India Garden is located in a convenient area and is easy to miss if your eye is hoping to catch the likes of an ethnic restaurant. It is located in your typical shopping center right off of Tunnel Rd. The Indian ambience is fairly minimal. However, one night while my husband and I were having dinner in the restaurant, a woman arrived with a sitar and played some tunes. That effect was a pleasure and made our dining experience quite enjoyable. I have eaten at many Indian restaurants over the last three years, only ever the vegetarian options (which are plentiful in Indian cuisine) and have had excellent, mediocre and awful experiences during my Indian food adventures. One thing I can say about India Garden is that the food has always been great! I have eaten there 5 times and have also partaken in their lunch buffet. My personal favorites are the Malai Kofta, Mutter Paneer, and the Chana Masala. These three entrees are my usual when first trying out an Indian restaurant and is what I gauge the overall quality of the food. I like my Indian dishes saucy, flavorful, rich and most importantly spicy (I order medium-plus on the spice scale.) India Garden serves you three pieces of papadam and mint chutney upon sitting. The service is always pleasant and professional and your water glass is constantly topped off, which I greatly appreciate while getting into the spicy stuff. Everything has always been excellent. However, their chili paneer was slightly disappointing as it had an overwhelming barbecue sauce flavor, but that really is minor. It would be even nicer if they kept the papadam coming, or perhaps provided complimentary naan bread when purchasing a meal. One of India Garden's biggest downfalls is their prices. That is one of the things that keeps me from frequenting the restaurant as often as I would like. I have a hard time paying $12-14 for a vegetarian dish. Aside from the uppity prices, the food is great and I will return.
