This is one of the best neighborhood restaurants in the Baltimore area. A friend told me about it a few years ago and I've been going back ever since. It's one of those comfortable family restaurants that are disappearing in favor of chain restaurants with no character and assembly line food. The Poplar Inn's food is fresh and made to order. The staff is friendly, the food is good and affordable. In the summer they offer steamed crabs. They're fat, with great seasoning and cheap! Better yet, no wait like other crabhouses. I have friends who travel from Pa. for the Poplar Inn's crabs every summer. My favorite dish is the blackened Orange Roughy although sometimes I opt for the comfort foods i.e. sour beef and dumplings or meatloaf.
