| Country Gourmet & | Sunnyvale, CA | |
|
We dropped in recently for a light dinner and were pleasantly
surprised. The food (though not fancy) was very well prepared with
fresh ingredients and artful seasoning. Try the rasberry lemonade
with your meal, and, if there is room, the bread pudding for desert is
wonderful. Homecooking like you wished your mother had given you.
The ambience is comfortable enough though a little on the cafeteria
side. (One orders at a counter and the food is then brought out to
you ala Sizzler.) But if reasonably priced, well prepared homestyle
food is what you are after you won't go wrong at Country Gourmet.

| Armadillo Willy's BBQ | Los Altos, CA | |
|
Actually, my husband HAS had barbeque at Kreutz Market and at the Iron
Works and at the County Line (for all you unfortunate souls who have
not had the pleasure these are well regarded barbeque restaurants in
central Texas). He says that if you are not going to be in Texas any
time soon, then head on down to Armadillo Willy's which is the next
best thing, You won't be disappointed. They cook the brisket right,
they cook the ribs right, they even get the beans almost right.
Peanuts in the coleslaw takes a bit of getting used to but I guess
they have to make some concessions to the locality. What they don't
have are beef ribs, so I guess we will have to wait til our next trip
home to get some of those. By the way, if your friends from Texas
drop in you won't embarrass yourself by taking them here. But
understand that they are not likely to admit that they like the food,
even if they do. (Texans would never admit that anyone outside of
Texas could do a half decent job of barbeque...)

| L'Osteria del Forno | San Francisco, CA | |

My husband and I have lived in Geneva for a few years and we are
looking for an Italian thin thin pizza in Bay area. This place has
great thin pizza. Forget lots of toppings. Try simple" Margherita
Pizza"! Gnocchi is delicious ,too. I like one slice of pizza for
appetizer and pasta dish for main .

| Original Joe's | San Jose, CA | |
|
I don't understand why this restaurant is " Italian restaurant".
Tasty and juicy lamb and beef but very bad spaghetti and tomato
sauce. Spaghetti is soooo soft and the sauce seems from a
can. However, waiters are very friendly and I like the atmosphere. I
may go again and try veal dish.

| Gelato Classic Italian Ice Cre | Mountain View, CA | |
|
Authentic Italian gelato. We were happy to find this place, having
developed a taste for real gelato while living in Geneva. The owner
is very friendly and personable. I understand they will be moving to
Castro Street in Mountain View soon. They will be right next to
Ristorante Don Giovanni, one of our favorite Italian restaurants, but
that is another story...

| Hangen Szechuan Restaurant | Mountain View, CA | |
|
My husband and I went to this restaurant twice for lunch. On one
occasion the chef seemed to have been very sparing with the lemon for
the lemon chicken. The sauce was certainly sweet and certainly
yellow. The main difference between the lemon sauce and the sweet and
sour sauce was the color. On the other hand, the whole sweet and sour
fish was great. (A lot to eat for only two people.) If you are macho
about your capability for handling hot food, try the spicy conch
salad. Flavorful but painful (even for my husband who grew up eating
jalapeneos in Texas).

| Don Giovanni | Mountain View, CA | |
|
We have been to this relatively new Mountain View Italian restaurant
three or four times and have yet to be disappointed with anything.
Quite the contrary we have found this to be an oasis of authentic
Italian food (can you say al dente?). Pastas (especially the Penne
dishes) have been superb. The fried calamari was great too. Waiters
have been friendly and attentive. All in all a pleasant dining
experience. Enjoy!

| Pezzella's Villa Napoli | Sunnyvale, CA | |
|
My husband and I went to this restaurant on New Year's eve last year.
The place is obviously popular. As it was packed with happy,
boisterous diners. While the atmosphere was fine, the food was only
average. We asked our waitress if the pasta was Al Dente.
She said that for al dente pasta we would have to pay extra. Dishes
were oversauced. We live near this place but won't go
back..

| Fung Lum Restaurant | Campbell, CA | |
|
I went to this restaurant 3 times. Nice atmosphere. Good service.
Once I had lunch buffet. It was good. The last time I went was in
August for dinner. My husband and I ordered chinese chicken salad,
sweet and sour fish fillet and duck and taro(potato) dish. The
salad is ok but we didn't like sweet and sour fish at all. Very
thick crust and very thin fish ! Couldn't find fish!!!
The duck was very fatty and oily. We couldn't taste any duck.
