| Sushi Sasabune | Honolulu, HI | |
|
My GOD!! As far as class goes, this place beats all. I was lucky
enough to have a wealthy friend on the island, and she treated
me out to here. I must say, that even though my ability to eat certain
kinds of seafood limit me when it comes to sushi bars, the selection
here was still unbelivable. They opted to give me the special
of the day, until I told them of my allergic reaction to most fishes,
and were completely willing to work with me on a selection that
was acceptable, and the chef actually came out and talked it over
with me. The staff were what I would expect of a high class restaurant,
and are very particular about how certain things were to be eaten,
but from my times over in Nippon, this wasn't too much of a
problem, and they were very helpful with any of the questions
I did have. The sake selection was superb, with some of the most
mellow So Chiku Bai vintages that I have ever had, and are definately
head and shoulders better than the So Chiku Bai that i am accustomed
to. The plum wine was also the sewwtest i have ever had, and I only
wish that the cost on it per bottle wasn't so prohibitive,
or I would have bought a case. Truly deserving of 5 stars, I don't
say that about anybody, really.

| Matteo's Italian Restaurant | Honolulu, HI | |
|
Wel, with the exception of the large chunk of the menu that was
dedicated to seafood of one type or another (can't complain
too much, asfter all I'm on an island!), I was very impressed
with what I got there. This should be a restaurant for couples.
The decor and atmosphere is tasteful and elegant, while having
eenough ambience to relax the guest, without lulling them into
thinking that the surroundings are gaudy or pretentious. The
handmade pasta is a nice touch. I had pasta primavera with scaloppini,
and they were both heavenly. When I go back to Hawai'i, I WILL
visit here again.

| Gordon Biersch Brewery Rstrnt | Honolulu, HI | |
|
Honestly, what are you people expecting? Paradise has it's
limits, as do we all. One of those limits is it's cost. I loved
it. I'm not a big beer drinker, I prefer wines and certain
mixed drinks, but I found a few here that were to my liking, and
I loved the food. I play across the whole board for places to eat,
and although I am very comfortable in classical French restaurant,
i do love getting a burger and some of those garlic fries! It's
very fun on the weekends, when a lot of the locals come out to mingle
with the tourists. What I think is so funny is that the place has
a lot of class, but does it's hardest to emulate a dive. It
does it very well, and holds itself as a form of satire in action.
I love it!!!!

| Kim Chee Restaurant | Honolulu, HI | |
|
Come on, kim chee should have let everybody on that this place
was Korean. I did not go with the anticpation of Thai, I went for
Korean, and I was not disappointed. For it being Hawai'i,
the prices were fabulous, and the flavor, if not thorougly authentic
to it's heritage, was excellent nonetheless. I was not disappointed
with some of the soups, and the entrees are very well made modern
renditions of some of the more classical dishes. I wouldn't
mind going there again.

| Mekong Thai Restaurant | Honolulu, HI | |
|
Ooo-WEE that's good Thai! I love a Thai place that makes me
regret that I went in to eat there. I love spicy food, and I odn't
care what anybody says, they got it down better than anybody else
on Earth. The place isn't a hole in the wall, but it can be hard
to find. All in all, though, go there if you are in the mood to be
sinful and painful at the same time.

| Kua Aina Sandwich Shop | Honolulu, HI | |
|
This place is reminiscent of Fuddruckers or the Roadrunner Cafe
in Va and AK, respectively. Man, with all the variety of food that
I have had, nothing beats a good burer, and these guys do it with
the best. The avocado burger is really good (love the creativity
that they put into some of the selections), and the wait isn't
too bad for the kind of quality that you get here. the sides are
well done, but bear in mind that the main emphasis is on the burgers,
so don'e be too mad if the fries don't come out exactly
perfect. I really like it.

| Dixie Grill Bar-Bque & Crab | Honolulu, HI | |
|
Now, I'm a man that likes to have fun as much as the next guy,
but this is too much even for me. If the atmosphere was toned down
a little bit, and there weren't children running rampent
all over the place, I would have given this place 4 stars. The food
is excellent, and the variety of sauces were a tantalizing treat
to these too jaded tastes, but please don't try to be something
that you aren't. Either you are a family restaurant, or you
are a casual social restaurant. It's vey hard to cater to
the adult and still maintain the level of fun that children do,
and unfortunately, you guys didn't do it. If it ellowed down
a bit, I would go back in a heartbeat, but until then, it's
just one of those sacrifices I'm going to have to make.

| Torito's Mexican Food | Honolulu, HI | |
|
I'd say that the food is average at best, and that most of the
plates are being maksed by the mole poblano the other sauces.
In that sense, it's very traditional, but not what I am looking
for. It's decent, but I ave had better.

| La Mer | Honolulu, HI | |
|
Ah, fantastique! Ma coeur dormez a La Mer. Live entertainment,
excellent food (try some of the dessert fondues) and a wine selection
that can't be beat. I was almost giddy when I stepped into
the place. If you can afford to eat there, this is te place to go.
The pates are smooth, the cheese is ripe, and the setting is meant
for romance. If only there were more like it, then I think the lost
pleasures of fine dining would return to the regular man.

| Tony's Baltimore Grille | Atlantic City, NJ | |
|
It's unpretentious, and I like that. The food is out-friggin-standing.
SOm things are to be expected on the East Coast, and this place
delivers all of it. It feels like I've always been going there.
The pizza is everything I expected and even more. By God, why are
you still reading this?!! Go eat there now!

| Pastabilities | Syracuse, NY | |
|
I like the food, but not the wait. Reservations would be a nice
addition, but when you finally get a seat, the service is very
fast. I've only been there once, so I'm not sure about
the seasonal menu, but the choices I did have sounded superb,
and I was impressed with the taste and presentation of the food.
Definately a keeper.

| Oki Japanese Steak House | Providence, RI | |
|
Well, the food was decent, but I have had better for the price.
It's very average, and they aren't shy about it either.
Nothing to stand out, other than the standard items to try to make
them stand out. I wouldn't refuse if somebody opted to go
there with me, but I'm not necessiraly going to make the suggestion.

| Murphy's Delicatessen | Providence, RI | |
|
This is what I expect out of an East Coast Hoagie. Man, that was
good! What more can I say?
|
||
| Twin's Pizza | Providence, RI | |
|
Good food, but the atmosphere is kinda creepy. It makes me think
about some of those mafia films I saw as a teenager. I'm not
sure that I want to konw what goes on behind the kitchen. But for
take-out, it's very good!
|
||
| Atomic Grill | Providence, RI | |
|
If you're not from around there, don't come on the weekends.
The atmosphere kinda kills on you, and you stand out as a non-local,
and end up being a killjoy just by oyour mere prescence. Good for
the regular nights, though. OK food, but nothing too stand-outish.
Standard fare, but with a little extra 'something.'

| Pot Au Feu-French Restaurant | Providence, RI | |
|
I really don't know why French cuisine went out of style.
SOmething about the tastes elicits very strong emotions in one,
and begs to be had again. I loved the dessert tarts, and the more
savory tarts that they had as well. There was a definate feel of
being in France, with the courses being separated as they were.
I thought it was charming that they actually had a cheese course,
and was followed nicely with the main course. The service wasn't
too spectacular, which is why the 3 stars, but overall a very nice
place to eat and relax.

| Hafner's Restaurant & Tavern | Syracuse, NY | |
|
It should really stick with staying a bar. It's an aewsome
bar, but the food is just sub-par. The environment is incredibly
fun, and I had a great time. I just felt that my money could have
better been spent buying drinks rather than food.

||
| Yukon River Grill | Syracuse, NY | |
|
I found the place to be quite nice. Mind you, I am from the Yukon
region, and this didn't feel anytihng like it, it was still
very nice. The steaks were well seasoned, and the staff was pleasent,
if just a tad bit too chummy. I like some personality, but not too
much. Overall, very nice.

| Texas Roadhouse | Anderson, IN | |
|
I love the food. The wait is pretty bad, but well worth it. Good
food, decent prices, and an enjoyable experience. I'll
be going back!

||
| Taco Bell | Anderson, IN | |
|
Man, I thought that the service was terrible! It took foreverto
getour order, and even then, it was wrong! I like Taco Bell as much
as anyone else, but I am NOT going back to that one!
